Because I live in Knoxville and follow UT basketball. Are you going to kick me out, badass?
Haha ok.
Well I feel much great about UT targets then. They got a lot of retweet from some stud recruits, hell I think even Jabari Parker retweed a UT fan, must mean we're in on him.
No if you have nothing better to do have at it....Using that one word tells me ALL I need to know and gives me the real answer....you can't be over 15....Just curious...don't get all offended like most UM folks do....just curious again mind you...and be careful how you talk to your elders....Lighten up Alice...funny!
I think those are all valid points. I don't necessarily think the possibility of UT losing to UF would matter much to the recruits. I think showcasing the Florida fanbase is more disadvantageous.
The atmosphere is great for the UF game, Ii'm not arguing that. I've been to the last two (but can't make it this year due to a wedding), and it's great. However, there is A LOT of blue around Knoxville that weekend, and it just gives Billy one more thing to try to sell the kids on. If they came in for the Bama game, the atmosphere would be just as electric, but there would be nothing for Donovan to capitalize on.
I think you are grossly overstating any pseudo-advantage Florida and Donovan could possibly capitalize on. The idea of a couple thousand Florida fans amongst the 100,000+ Tennessee fans in attendance having any measurable net positive for the Gators is remote, at best, and is certainly going to be washed away by the pro-UT agenda over the course of the 48 hour trip.
Tell me this, old timer: why do you have a problem with people from other fanbases coming on to a UT board? I'm discussing UT basketball, it's not like I come in to a thread and start discussing Memphis or Miami without others bringing it up first.
Whether remote or not, there is the advantage that can be capitalized upon. The pro-UT agenda would be just as strong on another given weekend, especially Bama which is only a week or two before early signing. It's just an interesting choice.
Look around...how many other "fans" of other schools do you see here? Is it really that hard to figure why I find it odd? Just not many on here who arent Vol fans...I have yet to find someone who could explain that to me...For me it would just be so bizarre....but hey welcome young man...welcome...
Well, it's my opinion that Florida's gained advantage is roughly equivalent to Nichols seeing a gator on tv while watching Swamp Wars. In other words, so small it's really not worth discussing further. Agree to disagree I guess. I'll recant my stance if Nichols chooses Florida and claims that a key reason was Florida having a 3% showing at a football game on his official to visit Tennessee.

I'm not saying that would be the reason to choose Florida, but the kid already loves UF. Bringing him in for the UF game gives him a chance to see how well the Gator fans travel and they travel well to Knoxville. UT would be showcased as well, of course, but that could happen on any given home game. With as hot as the UF program is right now, and as good of a recruiter as Billy D is, I think I would choose to deprive him of all ammo that I could.
Who knows if anything comes of it or not, I was simply pointing out something that I found interesting.
Ryan Miller was the coach that was recruiting Nichols (and Hubbs) i believe. Frank Haith enver recruits anyone himself unless he has a dufflebag with $10k in it, and even then he gets a bagman.
All my UT friends are going crazy for the Mizzou game. Maybe you need to get out more.
Florida's fan support for their football team is really no indication of the support their basketball team receives. Quite frankly, for their amount of recent success, the level of support for the basketball team is pitiful in comparison.
A better comparison would be to let him come to a UT-UF basketball game at Thompson-Boling (which I am fairly certain he attended last year) and see the 12 Gator fans in attendance and let Billy D try and sell him on that.
I just think you are are comparing apples and oranges IMO.
