Recruiting Update 7/22

Are you basing this on any fact in particular, or do you just feel like arguing?

Are you basing that haith hasn't recruited them on any fact? No you haven't, because of you used facts you'd realized he has been involved directly with their recruitment.

Are you also using facts when you said you didn't say billy d would get exposure, when in fact thats exactly what you said? Your argument is so idiotic you can't even remember the crap your spewing.

MC is either just arguing to argue at this point or too dense to actually be able to reason with.

Basketball recruits have always eaten up the big football atmosphere when they came on visits. I am not arguing that a big game atmosphere can be a great time to bring recruits in.

Florida fans being in his general vicinity couldn't matter less. That's where we differ. UF floods Knoxville with fans every time the teams play. I live here, I know. UF is recruiting both, no matter what BTO tries to tell you. Why give UF anymore exposure, when you could just as easily bring the kids in for the Bama game? Bama is closer to the signing period anyway.

The whole Billy Donovan argument makes so little sense it boggles the mind. Billy D. is a dangerous recruiter, and much more established than Martin. If I were recruiting against him, I'd want to give him as little of an advantage as possible. But like I said earlier, maybe Martin is THAT confident.

Josh Selby decommitting is completely separated from the fact that he committed after visiting for a football game. I can't imagine why someone would try and correlate the two. Sure, he enjoyed the game, was swept up in the moment and committed. He thought better of it later, which is why it ultimately does not good until a kid signs

.

New idea...let's bring in all big recruits for the Troy game. Yes that the way to do it!!!!

Memphis should keep all their recruits from ever watching a football game. If they see the football team lose to someone (which happens more often than not), it could completely turn them off to the basketball program...makes total sense. Coaches would be on the phone to all of the Memphis recruits saying "our football team could be their football team. You should obviously play here."

Mad cause your wrong again bro?

First, the correct word is "you're", since we're critiquing grammar and composition.

Second, what's to be right or wrong about? These are only opinions, that can never be verified as right or wrong.

You don't see things my way, which is fine, you never do. Having a discussion about the pros and cons of a given decision doesn't have a winner and loser, it is simply a platform for debate.

It's truly a shame that, after 10,000 posts on these boards in 7 months, you still can't have a conversation in which someone takes a different stance than you do.

I'm basing my belief in Haith's recruiting proclivities in the several years in which I've observed him as a recruiter and coach. Remember that he was at Miami before Mizzou. I never said that he hasn't recruited them or wasn't involved in their recruitment, every HC is at some level. Haith just takes a more backseat approach than most, and he usually lets his assistants take the lead. I haven't seen many reports, if any, of Haith being front and center to watch these guys, like I have with Donovan, Pastner and Martin.

Now, on what facts are you basing your assertion that Frank Haith is their "lead recruiter"?

Yes, Memphis is not very good at football.

Yes, Memphis is not very good at football.

The point is one team beating another team in football is not a basketball recruiting pitch, at least not a good one. Obviously being bad at football has had no bearing on your basketball recruiting. If Donovan really wanted to make snide remarks about UF beating UT in football, he could do it whether Hubbs/Nichols visited or not. However, if I were him I'd be more worried about the recent outcomes of the UT/UF BASKETBALL games and how that would sway their decisions.

YOU'RE wrong not about the opinion(which also happens to be wrong), but about you trying to correct me and say you didn't say something when I have it in text that you did.

You do that quite often, say you didn't say something when in fact you did. Barton, and cherry pick ring a bell?

Partially the fact that Nichols flat out said miller leaving has no effect on him because he wasn't recruiting him, Haith was.

I think those are all valid points. I don't necessarily think the possibility of UT losing to UF would matter much to the recruits. I think showcasing the Florida fanbase is more disadvantageous.

The atmosphere is great for the UF game, Ii'm not arguing that. I've been to the last two (but can't make it this year due to a wedding), and it's great. However, there is A LOT of blue around Knoxville that weekend, and it just gives Billy one more thing to try to sell the kids on. If they came in for the Bama game, the atmosphere would be just as electric, but there would be nothing for Donovan to capitalize on.

Can I read that article/interview somewhere?

Also, despite what Nichols puts out to the public, the departure of Miller must've had some effect on him, because now Auburn is trying to get in on him.

The atmospher will not be as electric for bama, this statement shows you still just don't get UT football. That's fine, I really don't expect you to, but stop arguing it like you're a UT football expert or something.

You have a rivals account, iirc?

You got the link where I can read that?

Who cares??? That's not the point that's being debated.

If you want to start arguing semantics rather than staying on topic, then do it somewhere else and stop cluttering up the board with this stuff. You brought the inconsistency up, I specified to clear up any confusion. Let. It. Go.

Why not talk about basketball rather than whether there was an "and" in one of my posts?

I don't pay for a rivals account, if that's what you're asking.

What are you asking to read? Stuff about Auburn getting in on Nichols?

Gary Parrish makes mention of it in his latest column, although he gives Auburn a lot more credit for being in the race than I do.

Also, Nichols has retweeted some Auburn fan tweets regarding his recruiting lately.

Hahahahahahahahahaahaha

So auburn fans on twitter, tweeting Nichols means that the staff is recruiting him?

Oh dear, I'm done, you have outdone yourself now.

And btw, Parrish doesn't say they are recruiting him, he mentions miller going to auburn and asks will they now get involved. More inaccurate information from you, you really struggle with facts huh?

I'm no UT football expert but I've lived in Knoxville for a while now and I've got two working eyes.

The atmosphere may not be better for Bama than for Florida, but it's fine for a recruiting weekend.

????

It's Nichols tweeting them, and it's just evidence that Auburn has gotten in on the Nichols recruitment, as is the Parrish article. That's what you asked for.

this was your previous statement in regards to the Bama atmosphere compared to Florida, "THE ATMOSPHERE WOULD BE JUST AS ELECTRIC", you really struggle with sticking to what you say.

Nichols hasnt tweeted anybody regarding auburn, retweeting some fan doesn't mean that a school is recruiting you, are you being serious right now?

Once again, Parrish doesn't say auburn is now involved, get your ish together bro.

This is all Parrish says about Auburn, please tell me which part says Auburn is now involved....

"Auburn coach Tony Barbee is in the process of hiring former Missouri assistant Ryan Miller, who just so happens to be cousins with Nichols' summer coach, Ernie Kuyper. So now some folks think Missouri might be out and Auburn might be in. But Missouri still has an assistant named Dave Leitao, and Leitao's son is teammates with Nichols on this Memphis-based summer team even though Leitao's son isn't from (and has never lived in) Memphis. So perhaps Mizzou remains in play after all."

I'm being serious. Taken under totality, is sure looks like the evidence points to Auburn getting in on him. He just starting getting and showing interest in Auburn via tiwtter, there is a mention by a national newswriter in a recent interview, 247 has added Auburn to his list of interested schools, he's tight with Hubbs who has taken a visit to Auburn.

It's recruiting, so Barbee can't come right out and say that he's recruiting Nichols, so you'll have to draw your own conclusions.

Haha ok.

Well I feel great about UT targets then. They got a lot of retweet from some stud recruits, hell I think even Jabari Parker retweed a UT fan, must mean we're in on him.
