Recruiting

The secret is to get two great players and then surround them with good role players. That's how Dawn and Geno built the programs. Tennessee is one player away from being at that level. They have some very good role types, they just need another player to mesh with Davis. If I went by last nights game I would say UCONN and Tennessee were terrible shooting teams....but it was just one of those nights with a lot of adrenaline behind every move....both are better than they played.

Tennessee also need to strengthen their bench. I know that Burrell comes off the bench and can produce some positivity, however, she can also be an issue. We just do not have much firepower on the bench. The cabinet was not bare when KJH arrived but it had a lot of missing pieces. However, before we kick the present coaching staff to the curb, we need to see how they handle the issues going forward. Realistically, defense and offense from the bench is very weak. I still believe that KJH’s ideology of putting multiple fresh legs in and out of the lineup is not working against better than average competition. She has to come up with a way of dealing with a bench low in quality. The starters have a lot of upsides if they quit making needless turnovers, needless fouls, and get better at making shots near the basket. Now that is going to take good coaching and players getting in the gym on their own.

Scoring avg. +22 scored 40 or so against us. Doesn't sound like the point guard ball handler we need. (however you can always use points) But at 5' 5" I don't think she can excel in the tall trees of the women's game. Many of which will be as quick as she and have a loooong reach. If we have "room" she could be of help, but do we have room?
Yeah, 5'5" can't play in this women's game. Just ask Dangerfield.

Recruiting will be great going forward I have no doubt we our the Lady Vols. Last night exposure of our program history and how we our women's basketball and single handedly by playing Uconn grew women's game. I would think there we re many young basketball players from high school down that was hearing that over and over. All Kellie and her coaches have to do is capitalize.

Hitting the nail on the head, teacherdean.

Well hopefully she will show major improvement. To this point it’s not looking all that good. Got to have players to win. We only have a couple.
At the time KJH was at NCState they were in a downward spiral. It is not easy to turn those type of programs around. Look at Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, Texas, etc. To a degree Tennessee was headed in the same direction because of poor coaching and Administration allowing such poor coaching to go on far too long. If we keep referencing back to NCState, we have to also look at what KJH did at MoStat and the success she had.

Have we not learned anything from the football team? Pruitt needed time to get his guys (still trying) & developing underdeveloped leftovers, which is hard to do overnight. Give this staff time.
Thank you these people that thought Harper was gonna come in here and recruit a bunch of five star players that she didn't even know much about or had never met before she got here really don't know much about basketball recruiting. It is a relationship thing as much as anything else and Harper has been recruiting a different type of player at Missouri State because it was a waste of time to do otherwise. You have to give her a year or two to see what she can do recruiting players. I think she will succeed here but way to early to make a judgement on last year results.

Do you really think she is a Dangerfield?? Doubt it. However there are exception to every situation. Does UT go after her thinking she is a D-field? I hope they are right if they do and I well respect their evaluation, however it where to work out. But I think my initial statement as stated is reasonable.

There have been many 5’5” players in WCBB That can be effective among what you call the tall trees. Sure it was reasonable. But it wasn’t correct. I can’t think of many tall trees in WCBB that are close to being as quick as a 5’5” player.

To me. A hallmark of recruiting under Holly was always “super athletic” but with a low basketball IQ. We need a PG that can take the decision making pressure off our scorers.

LV 2018 and 2019 classes contained 6 five star recruits. That was with other coaches being able to say LV's don't develop players. The Tennessee name still recruits. Look you guys just broke a bunch of UConn hearts with Horsten. KJH has proven to be able to develop players. Case in point the current MoState team. Don't worry about recruiting. Worry about keeping a positive attitude. Keep expecting to win. If you want to change the culture, it starts with you.

Strong post Orange, very strong.

I'm not sure of who your allegiance is with, but this fan base is hungry for a return to the good old days again....Most of us are patient, but we have been patient for a very long, long, time...

We shook our heads in disgust at so many blunders by the former coaching staff, our heads became like the toy dogs in car windows, just shaking along.

No one is wanting Kellie gone, except maybe "The Dark One", but even he has an orange heart and wants her to succeed too, but he will be reluctant to say it.

If Kellie can get through these girls head, ball security is at the heart of every loss, just maybe they may be good again....

Here's looking at you Orange.....

I'm UConn Blue, but a fan of WBB and feel what happened to the LV's is unfortunate. I choose the Need name to be clear that I feel WBB is better with UT competing.

Does anyone know if the staff is recruiting a true point guard that shoot. I love Massengill’s progress, but we need one in the 2021 class.

I just don't understand why it would be expected for this team to be Championship material in year one. Our team has fallen so far in the past years. If anyone can't see coaching improvement, I have to question ur eyesight. Now for those that are still dreaming of a Waltz type coach or Mulkey pipedream. It's over get on board, unless CH totally flops she is here for awhile and will be given every chance to succeed. Now if she doesn't just imagine how much moaning and groaning u will be able to do in her last year of her contract. If she is that bad we will see her demise a mile away. Bash away

Once the season is over i really hope that the staff goes after Grad transfers and JUCO players to round out the 2020 class. i actually think it's a need for the 2020-2021 season.

Elite point guard needed in the class of 2021 to learn under Jasmine. I hope we get to a point of not having to start freshmen especially at the point guard position.
