Tiger High fans make me giggle. I LOVE that Pearl ate Cal's lunch this season. That quote to the Memphis TV reporter was priceless.

They realize they're about to become the second most successful basketball program in the State of Tennessee because of Pearl, and they don't like it.

Seriously, if Pearl has the kind of recruiting class in the next few years like I think he is going to, I honestly think we will surpass Memphis.

what kind of recruiting class do you THINK he's goin to have??

and especially that i'm sure cal will have as equal of a class...

Read the recruiting boards on this site for more details - that's what I'm basing my thoughts on. 2007 will be respectable, and 2008 has the chance to be monster.

Cal will continue to recruit studs from the Memphis area, no doubt, but Pearl's regional recruiting I think will rival and perhaps surpass Cal's.

but cal rarely gets the local studs...he gets one like every other year or so...cal recruits nationally...pearl needs to continue to just outcoach cal...and we shall be fine...don't put your hopes on out recruiting him

We need to get Hatvol into this thread - he has a high opinion of Cal and is plugged in to that scene. He'll be able to determine if UT's recruiting classes are starting to rival U of M's.

i wouldn't doubt rival...at all...just don't bet on out-recruiting him...he's def one of the best...its his x's and o's he's gotta work on...pearl is fine tho for sure...definately something there to be excited about...i see the tigers series as whoever the home team is wins for the next few years

Are we going to continue to play Memphis in the coming seasons? I honestly thought Cal was getting tired of it, based on some comments made this season.

yea well the ut game for them generates people in attendance and some dough...don't you feel sorry for them sometimes hahah
Yeah, I really do....I think a lot of their animosity comes from getting it handed to them earlier in the year.....I think its going to be funny when they make an early exit outta the tourney

Getting beat at football they always had bball to fall back on. Now that too is dwindling away.

Those guys blow my mind. Are they such homers that they can't be even slightly objective? Is there not one poster with a modicum of knowledge in that mud hole.....note to Memphis fans...this is a new day with a new coach. Throw out your history books 'cuz as you may have noticed, as we were drubbing you this season, this aint Buzz-ball:eek:k:

Replace the blue with crimson and it looks like a bammer board.

It's Memphis for crying out loud. This should not surprise anyone. Let them whine about everything while we surpass them in basketball. Besides, Coach Cal's shady recruiting tactics we earn them probation sooner rather than later.

Recruitng is never going to be a problem for Cal or Pearl.
Any opinions on who will have the edge the next 5 years? Or is that an apples/oranges question, since both will be recruiting different types of players to match their playing styles?

i think its safe to say that both programs are goin to be fine and it's good for the state...its also good if the griz get oden and chauncey billups to go w/ miller, pau and gay....tennessee basketball will be in great shape!!!

I could care less what's good for the state. If Tiger High went winless next season it would not hurt my feelings one bit. In fact, I might actually dance a little jig.

I like how they said UT would not get a pod close to Knoxville. As if Lexington is so far away. 4-seed = Lexington, unless they send Ohio State and Memphis, who would both be seeded higher, to Lexington instead. That's the current projection, but with UT as a 5. The committee seems to love storylines. Lofton + Lexington = great storyline.
