Wait a minute. If Memphis keeps consistently beating the SEC, does that mean it's no different than C-USA?

I doubt they would have a perfect conference record. They haven't played the best the Sec has to offer either. I do believe they would have done good this year in the Sec. Overall, the Sec was a complete disappointment to me this year.

Yeah, all that inferior competition UMASS beat on the way to the Final Four. Also, remind me again the last time Memphis didn't play a nonconference schedule that got them on national television about 5 extra times. I love all these cluless homers who mindlessly blather about the toughness of the SEC questioning Memphis. Let's look at the last two years. Memphis has played at Alabama=Win, at Ole Miss=Win, Tennessee=Win, Kentucky, on a neutral floor,=Win, at Tennesse=Loss, and Ole Miss=Win. Yeah, the SEC has just worn them out.

Your one to talk about someone being a homer. Iv read 7 pages of you defending your precious Tigers. And now your a UMASS fan? I just stated the facts that Memphis beat less than quality competition last year and unless they get another favorable bracket this year they will be suffering an early exit. You name all then "impressive" wins The UofM has against SEC competition but I have yet to see a game against Florida a team that like Tennessee did this year would run the precious tigers out of Fed Ex Forum or anywhere else for that matter. When they actually do play quality teams like UCLA last year, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, even a down Arizonia team this year the Tigers get run off the court. Face it you are a third rate school and and even a third or fourth rate athletic department as a whole.

Scotsvol, conveniently failing to mention that Memphis ran UCLA out of MSG last season. However, he was probably taxed from having to read 7 whole pages.

Twelve, who, other than Florida, would you propose Memphis have played from the SEC? South Carolina? Mississippi State? Unless my memory has gone haywire, Tennessee won the SEC East last year. Apparently, by your standard, the way to be considered one of the elite in the SEC is to simply not play Memphis. Welcome to the upper echelon, Georgia and Arkansas. Congratulations on your newfound elite status, Auburn.

Yeah but who won by double digits when it mattered......ding ding ding the answer is UCLA

I didn't realize 50-45 constituted double figures. Sounds like you might want to look into enrolling in one of those third or fourth rate schools you were talking about. I believe they all have remedial math programs.

Wow, they went to the Elite eight. They have sustained tourney success of epic proportions as of late. Do us a favor and give us a run down of the past ten years of the Tigers tourney resume.

its funny when someone says "yea we went to the final 4 in 78" the response is "thats the past dude..what you doin now" and then you tell them "yea we went to the elite 8" and the response is "yea well what you done in the last 10 years" haha i think its funny...you're an obvious hater...good for sports tho i like it

You make a good point about Memphis going to the Elite 8 last year because the beat some of the true powerhouses of college basketball to get there like Oral Roberts, Bucknell, and Bradley. Wow tough competition its almost as tough as that joke conference they play in. Some high school regions in Tennessee are tougher than Conference USA. And dont give me that they cant help it mess. If they could play a little bit of football not even that much they would have been invited to jump to the Big East 2 years ago. They stayed in CUSA to be the dominate program because the great Coach Cal cant win against good competition see the New Jersy Net years. His only success has came at UMASS and Memphis where he could dominate inferror competion.

florida had an easy ride too...thats the whole greatness about ncaa tourney....anybody can do it...even that mid-major in the corner of the state

cal won w/ the nets till his key players got hurt ala sam cassell and others

how did we get talkin about alabama??

wow i missed all the good stuff....anyways.....

tennessee people...i'm a vol fan in the memphis area so i know a lot over here and not much over there...i don't necessarily mean about sports...just everything...and i'm pretty young and naive still and learning at the age of 23...

why is it that the people of west tennessee dont' acknowledge east tennessee and vice versa?? (not just sports...but anything politically, economically everything)...and i want specifics from somewhat intelligent people and not stupid answers...i'm very curious...i think most will know what i'm talkin about but if i need to elaborate i will if asked

It has always been that way even back during the Civil War. The 2 sides of the state have never agreed and probably never will. By the way Im not a math major and didnt feel like looking up the score to humor you just from my memory it seemed like a bigger blowout than 5 points maybe because it was the most boring game I have ever seen that late in the tourney because the teams combined didnt score over 100. There that was pretty good math. And by the way Im no hater just stating my opinion. If I was a hater then I wouldnt credit Florida, a team I hate more than Memphis, for the great run they made last year.

that is true and its bad for the state...people should care that there are problems out there

Why should the people of TN care when it's obvious that the people of Memphis don't? They keep voting them into office.

theres a lot of people that are NOT voting cause they dont care...which is crap...i hate it...people should care...and memphis is in TN...i hate the "well they don't care why should i" everyone should...sometimes you gotta pride aside and just do whats best

i'm not saying memphis is anything remotely perfect..theres problems and they need to do something about it...but it shouldn't just be the western part of the state that recognizes it...and it shouldn't be the eastern part only recognizing their area...i honestly know nothing that goes on in the eastern TN,...thats sad

The problem isn't non-voters, it's ignorant voters. If a person does not choose to educate themselves on the candidates and issues then a change can't and won't happen. There is absolutely nothing a person in E. TN can do to affect Memphis politics. I know plenty of what's going on there because half of my family has lived in Memphis since the early 30's. Memphis is being ruined from the inside.

I will grant Scotsvol's point about how terrible the Memphis-UCLA game was last year. However, the Michigan State-Wisconsin foulfest in the 2000 Final Four was worse.

there are two spins for everything. i didn't say E Tn can do something to affect memphis politics but i just don't get how the state is so divided that they don't recognize each other...are there any other state like this? memphis is def corrupt...also people are moving out of memphis into desoto county, MS....fastest populated county in MS...what i question is the dividend of the state? i know you said civil war...wow...then it prob won't ever change
