Refs took away our chance to win.

When Maymon got t'd up? Looked like they were talking about how they are both ready for spring weather or maybe how diversified their retirement portfolio's were...

Is it a coincidence that we didn't get 1 call to go our way after that? Wish he'd grow a pair. Smh

He was telling them how sorry he was that his player misbehaved and they are taught to be better than that.

Yeah I think the Stokes free throws were the only points. As far as officiating I think Ted Valentine is the worst I've ever seen. He always does something to give him lots of camera time... The next time he refs a game you watch and just see if he doesn't..., in fact there are a lot of nicknames out there for him one of them being TV Ted....

For sure. I think Valentine hated Pearl. He teed him up a lot. Valentine almost got into a shoving match a few weeks back with the Cincinnati coach.

Maybe I missed something, what did Maymon do? I didn't see anything and have heard that he didn't cuss the guy. What did he do? Players talk to refs all the time. What did he do to deserve a technical that would boot him?

Adams was going to the table to make his call, and I think most of the players thought it was UF. Some players were walking the other way. Maymon walked along with him and motioned that Young threw the shoulder into him. Maymon then got a little closer and said something else. They were both isolated from the others. Adams looked right at him and gave him the technical. I thought he might have used bad language, but if he didn't, then it's even worse. Probably said that was terrible.

Just bad officiating. Players decide the outcome not officials, especially considering how bad the call was.

He obviously said something wrong. Right after he turned around, you could tell he was waiting for the whistle. That's all on Maymon IMO. Even though the original foul called against him was complete BS.

hmm, ok. I will watch again. I kept looking for it or waiting to hear but everything I have seen reported was basically that he said nothing bad.

I agree with your assessment on PG play but the T put our best rebounder on the bench with the game in doubt and 4+ minutes left. It very well could have been the difference.

Maymon put himself on the bench. I understand why he was upset about the foul it was a bs call. He became the aggressor and no Ref is going to allow that to happen.

I think Mayon was upset with the No call he was undercut on previously.

Give em a few more years and the Pat Adams, Doug Shows & Ted Valentines of the world will succeed in ruining college basketball. We already have to have replay because they're so bad at their job!

Martin said post game that he asked the ref and the ref couldne give him a real explanation. Martin said Maymon was facing him and he heard every word, there wasn't a single curse word. Said Maymon questioned the call and said young was doing the same thing on the other end.

What I think got him was he's all alone at half court, all eyes on him, and the ref didn't like how Maymon tried to "show him up" with everyone watching.

Not saying we would have won, but the officials absolutely ruined what would have been an amazing ending to a great ballgame. The call on Maymon was bad, but the reason I think he reacted like he did was because Florida had been getting away with murder inside the entire second half. I am a fan of letting them play, but there is only so much you can let go. When you compare the contact on that play with some of the things that were not being called in the paint the rest of the half, then you add that the call was missed, I can't blame him at all for being upset. In the end though, if the VOLS don't go so long with 0 points we are celebrating a giant win right now. Yes the officiating was bad, but we did nothing to help it with our play.

Thanks. I have heard several say no profanity was used. I am biased of course but I don't think based on what we know, that you call a tech of that magnitude.

hence my assessment. Insecure ref who can't stand being challenged. Did you watch his face after he blew the whistle? Pathetic and unprofessional. Deadspin has a slow motion video of it.

Give some Florida some credit they do play good defense, but with about 10 minutes left it was like the refs got tired of blowing their whistle and they let Florida play football for the rest of the game.

And they couldn't even that right. Last out of bounds play was clearly out on Yguette.

it was reassuring to see Conzo taking up for Maymon after the T... oh wait

On the whole they did a pretty good job. The only REALLY bad call was the T on Maymon. That was a game changer. I don't know what he said but given that he was walking away and emotions were really high you got to swallow the whistle and play on.

If Maymon was 5' 9" walking toward the ref, he wouldn't get the T. Unless he uttered something absolutely terrible, he should have never gotten the whistle. He was getting mauled by Young when he threw the elbow.

Was a bad call in the first place. Watch the replay and Young should have been called for an offensive foul.

14 points in the second half. That is not the refs fault.

You are right about that. If this team could get some 3s or find offense from anywhere, we would have won. Both teams played great defense, but Cuonzo just can't win close games or coach an offense. Period. He couldn't find a way to get McRae open to hit some 3s.

If Maymon was moving towards him and acting aggressively I would agree but they had an exchange in which Maymon was saying he got elbowed the ref disagreed and then Maymon turned and walked away and said something else. In that scenario you got to let it go as a ref. I called games up to the high school level years ago and we were counciled not to have rabbit ears. Players and coaches
have a right to disagree with a call. The line we used was they could say that call sucked but if it got personal as in you suck then it is T time. Maybe Maymon did say something bad about the refs mama but it looked more along the lines of that calls BS. Would be interesting to know what he said.
