Reid Suggests Romney Paid No Taxes for 10 Years

But Harry Reid says he didn't pay any taxes for the last ten years. Who am I supposed to believe?

Tough call. Reid says he has a reliable source. Romney says he actually looked at them.

If Romney were to release them he could certainly embarrass Reid. On the other hand, one wonders why Romney is saying stuff like this knowing it just fans the flames on it, and especially one wonders why, if he was going to say anything, he waited so long to do so. That is very odd.

Romney's source is better

Then he ought to be happy to show them to us.

I assume he had to sign them.

I would assume so. I doubt that he necessarily knows off the top of his head what his rate was in 2007, for example. But I imagine he could have that checked for him rather easily, which is what he has evidently done, and it was always at least 13 %.

That's what he says, anyway.

he just told you what was in them. If Reid has any evidence that Romney is lying then he can produce it. If not, it's time to shut up about it and return the discussion to what actually matters

That's what they are trying to avoid since they are trying to stay away from talking about the last 3.5 years. Unemployment up, gas prices up about $2 since he was elected, country being in debt up to our eyeballs.

Still dumb because the cacophony of idiots will increase dramatically over the top line.

No because Romney is running and the burden is on him to produce them.

We've been round and round about it --- this thread was more an expression of my bewilderment at why he'd say this now. I don't understand as all it does is bring up a sore spot yet again.

What burden? Where is this "burden" explained? Fact is he's done nothing wrong and is being vilified by a man who can produce zero evidence. That man is also working at the direction of the WH

it's idiotic but it does distract the voters from the utter disaster this Pres has been

I agree it was dumb. He should just ignore it and allow Obama's lap dog Reid continue to make a fool of himself and the WH.

That's how you would like to re-cast it. But that's completely false.

In fact, when he disclosed he made $40 million in the last two years there was very little discussion of that. It was the amount paid in taxes on that which was disturbing.

And still is, in light of Romney's stubborn and refusal to simply release them, as others have done for decades.

I don't think the man knows shame. He wants to shut down the same brothels that employed his single Mom (she did housekeeping as I understand it).

Really was the point of the thread, although of course we end p back where we started on the main issue.

I can't see any benefit to Romney saying another word about it. Whoever told him to go ahead and put that line out there (you know it was strategized to death first) has to be on Obama's payroll.

Would love to see Romney use his returns to emphasize the need for a complete overhaul of the tax system. I think Ryan gives him the option of rolling out a tax reform platform that the GOP ticket could win with.

if that was the point of the thread then why didn't you mention it in your OP? All you brought up was that he needs to release them

Mitt Romney Says He Never Paid Less Than 13 Percent In Taxes - ABC News

Claims he went back and looked at them that he never paid less than 13 percent over the last ten years.

So we know he has them. Just sitting there. Ought to be easy to prove.

13% of $40 million is $5.2 million, I challenge you to pay more tax than Romney. The idiocy here is that you keep prattling on about the percentage when in reality, Mitt has paid more in taxes over the last 10 years than a substantial portion of the US population.

What a load of liberal BS. Romney has no burden. He has no obligation whatsoever to disclose them regardless of how often liberals like yourself whine about it.

That would be clever. So there's zero chance of it.

I thought I did, certainly it was in the title.

Agree or not, the issue is not going away and is like a twisting dagger in Romney's electoral heart.

I don't mean to say you and joe six might be short sighted. I'm saying the two of you are dumb as hell.

More stupidity. You've suggested more than once this is no race. You should be able to avoid one of backtracking or hypocritical silliness, but you can't. Wtf?

Obama is hanging on by a thread....the polls will not reflect it until mid October.
