Reid Suggests Romney Paid No Taxes for 10 Years

I don't know that.

I am actually voting for Johnson because he is by far the best candidate of the three. It is not even close.

Don't get me wrong, if someone held a gun to my head and told me to choose between Obama and Romney, I (like most Johnson supporters) would side with Romney. If Romney loses to Obama due to Johnson supporters, it will be worth it because the third party cause would have been perpetuated to a point where it was relevant upon the election.

A multi-party system trumps the shortfalls of another Obama term.

Spoken like a true net-zero tax payer. I and my family can not withstand another 4 years of Obama. We stand to lose everything. Especially if he goes through with his "mandatory government retirement savings" plan that will pull all 401K's under a government umbrella. You even saying that voting for Johnson and electing Nobama is a good thing shows just how little you actually have at stake for this election.

Agree, Buchanan received just enough votes in southern Florida to hand Florida and the WH to Bush.

WTF? Take your medicine a figure out what you are saying or either add a sarcasm alert because I ain't seeing a lot of sarcasm right now.

I'm confused.

Conservatives say SS sucks and is an entitlement we can't afford, yet proposals to create a de minimus retirement savings plan for the poor to self-fund is the end of the world.

I personally pay plenty in taxes and have something to lose. That is the exact reason I am voting for GJ and not either of the 2 candidates they're giving you to vote for. He is the only one who will fundamentally change the direction we're headed and not just tap the brakes

I agree to a point, but, Gary Johnson would have a hard time getting some policy items through congress, even one with GOP majorities in both houses.

That's one of the problems a 3rd party POTUS faces, the pettiness of career politicians.

what?

as said above, look at Ross Perot in 1992 and to a lesser extent 2000, when Ralph Nader siphoned off just enough votes from Al Gore

Ross Perot was an independent. Although his campaign was the beginning of the jailbreak movement against the two party system. He just didn't have the organization and structure needed to sustain the movement which comes with having a defined multifaceted party.

Ralph Nader was a clown.

Your sentiments illuminate how little you understand about how our federal government operates.

And yes, I, like most of the country, have little stake in the election between Obama and Romney. They are more similar than they are different. You can't see that.

he got 19% of the vote, if Johnson gets a similar percentage, I'll eat my shorts on national TV

a guy that vetoes everything for 4yrs wouldn't be that bad

a guy that vetoes everything for 4yrs wouldn't be that bad

it's a two-way street though, he can veto everything that lands on his desk, but he can also get stonewalled on appointments (judicial, cabinet, etc.).

Because the acquisition of my 401K to distribute to the poor and continue to fund the sinking ship that is SS and Medicare is not something that I care to contribute too. The poor don't make enough contributing 5% of their salaries to make a dent. Please donate all your savings, sell you homes and cars, and give everything you make to the poor then come talk to me about it. Until then, you give your money to whom you want to give it to and I will do the same.

Your age indicates how little you have had to fight US to keep every last penny you make. Your academic conversations about the government have been very illuminating. When you grow up, have a household, put 2 kids through college and are a contributing member to the redistribution of wealth, you will look back and say, damn, that old dude was right, it does suck working over half the year to pay the feds. Or, maybe you are a BHLS and want to live as a leach on everyone else. Or......maybe your papa is independently wealthy and you don't have to work for a living. Either way, I pay enough taxes as it is, don't want to sacrifice my health care to a single payer system which is where Nobamacare leads us, and don't want to redistribute my meager savings to the "poor" and be told I can only get to them if I make less than a certain amount. If you think otherwise, that illuminates how little you understand about how our federal government operates.

Your first two sentences are diametrically opposed. Even if GJ got elected, nothing would happen to the status quo. If Romney gets elected, I firmly believe that we will at least return the Fed to close to the size it was when Nobama took office. I also believe that if Nobama gets elected that we will be paying a significantly higher % in taxes within 1 year than we do, unemployment will skyrocket, the stock market will tank, and I will lose my house. That is how scared I am. And until you have as much to lose as I do, you can't possibly make ANY comments about how much I know about how the Federal Gov works (not you PJ, others).

What will be different if he gets elected again? What kept those things from happening the first time he was elected?

no they aren't if you understand what GJ is about. You don't seem to so your position is understandable

all that is still possible with any person elected. We don't know how Romney would vote on many issues but check out how the running mate he chose actually has.

neither party is truly about small govt. What would be the point of putting yourself out of a job?

Jailbreak movement? Really?

Perot was a rich guy with an axe to grind. His problem wasn't organization, it was the fact that he went temporarily insane and left the race while he had a hint of momentum. One of the best lines ever was James Carville in the documentary War Room when he refers to Perot's campaign as the most expensive act of masturbation in the history of the world.

It is not sarcasm. Pat Buchanan has stated and joked about getting the number of votes he received in Palm Beach County. The butterfly ballot was printed in a way that people thought they were voting for Gore and actually voting for Buchanan

I have heard Pat joke about the number of Jewish votes he received.

The 2000 Florida election was a disaster.

George Wallace had the best 3rd party run that I can recall in 1968. He won 5 or 6 states.

1) My comment was to point out that legislation is created by Congress, not the President. The House of Representatives is strongly Republican and will most likely be that way over Obama's next term if reelected. Your worry of Obama and your 401k is unfounded.

2) It's funny that you ramble on about how sh*tty your life is and how Obama is making your life miserable, yet you dismiss the idea of voting Libertarian. On top of that, you act as if Romney will be your savior. There was virtually no difference between Obama and Bush. Obama has just inherited a substantially worse economy which has exasperated the situation and policies which were also enacted under Bush's term. Romney has yet to detail any vision that is substantially different than Obama. Nobody wants to touch the third rail of politics. You hate on Obamacare, yet your boy has not come up with plan to counter it. The GOP is a joke right now. Why you cannot see that, I have no idea.

But by all means, go on believing that voting R over D or D over R is going to substantially impact your life or country in any significant positive way.

For lack of a better term.

I wasn't talking about his campaign in and of itself in 1992. I was talking about creating a platform which could continue after he was gone. You need a structure or party of some sort in place for that to happen.

You're not paying attention to current events are you?
