Remaining Schedule Prediction (Head vs Heart)?

Kentucky - L
Georgia - L
Mizzou - W
South Carolina - W
Vandy - W

10-2 final record

And that is a distinct possibility. We must come out ready to play this week and take Kentucky out of their game plan early. We need early scores and early stops on D. Get them in a hole and Levis will throw every down - our front will get some sacks and DBs will get a couple INTs.

I would like to see the Vol fans "orange out" Vanderbilts stadium, beat them by 70 points and rush the field to tear down the goal posts afterward. They can pay the fine, they get the same cut of SEC revenue that the other teams get while spending nothing on football.

I just feel in my bones that we are due for a letdown. We are due for a bad performance. I think the team is still a bit hungover from the Bama win and I'm afraid we are going to be looking a little past KY to Georgia. I also think KY will be coming in HIGHLY motivated. They are coming off a bye week and they will be well rested and prepared for this game. I don't know, I hope I'm wrong but I just do not have a good feeling about this weekend.
I'm also a little worried about this game for those same reasons. Primarily, I think Kentucky will come into the game extremely hungry and focused. But, I also think we match up very well with them. I really believe Heup is gonna have 'em ready. He knows how much is riding on this.

Here are my predictions- what are yours? Are the results based on your brain (gut) or heart

Kentucky W (head)
Georgia W/L (heart/head) A win there would be badass
Missouri W (head)
South Carolina W (head)
Vanderbilt W (Life)

We go 4-1 and make the playoffs. Although I think we lose at Gawja, it will be by no more than 7 points and the committee will not be able to deny us. Bama will beat UGA again. I just don't think uga is that good this year; however, the environment (home-field advantage) and their TEs (3 or 4) don't bold well for us. There will be 3 teams from the SEC in the plays. I'm probably wrong and have been before. Just my gut feeling as of today.
I just can't. I've been glad to be wrong about 3 games already.

If we lose to Georgia, then our fate is in their hands... we'll need them to beat Bama. I don't think 3 SEC teams are going to the playoff. That said, it feels like the absolute worst case, wheels fall off, scenario is 10-2, which is a helluva thing to think about.
Not just that. A loss to UGA means we need big help to get in.

I think the key to stopping their offense is going to be slowing down their run game in all parts of the field the game but most especially in the red zone, making them kick field goals or try to convert TD with pass. Getting at the quarterback is something we need to keep working at too, even if they are moving the ball. We have done that pretty well all season.

We will most likely give up a lot of yards to them through the air like we do to everyone, but if we can keep them from scoring TDs that is how we can get an advantage IF our offense can have the kind of performance we have seen all year. No reason in my mind to think they can’t. Georgia defense is good, but we have faced good defenses.

The passing game opens up our run game, so there the key I think is to affect our QB consistently so we got off schedule a lot. They need Hendon Hooker to have a bad day. If we aren’t passing well, we also won’t be running well. If we are, it’s business as usual. No one has been able to do that yet. If they can’t stop our offense then they are gonna have to keep up, and field goals won’t cut it. The vast majority of their red zone touchdowns are rushing, just as it is with us. They kick a lot of field goals.

The thing is Georgia has a lot of talented linebackers. What really surprises me is that they are like #100+ in rank when it comes to sacks and similar in tackles for loss. I haven’t watched their games but am told they have been able to get pressure but they haven’t been able to take people down much. They are much better at allowing the other team to tackle for a loss and get sacks than they are at doing this with their own defense.

One thing that could really help us is if we get off to a fast start like we have pretty often. It just changes teams mindsets and makes them adapt their game plan in a way where they have to gamble a lot.
We have to pressure Bennett. That’s what MO did and it worked. If he has time he will pick us apart. He’s not BY but he’s pretty darn good and he’s elusive so we can’t overrun him like we did BY all the time.

I think the only way the SEC gets 3 teams in is if we beat Georgia but lose the SECCG to Alabama. We all have 1 loss, and a lot of these other undefeated teams need to start losing too.

Here's the question...Let's say we beat UGA and lose to Bama in SECCG. We're 12-1 having split with Bama. Ohio State goes undefeated and is 13-0 Big10 Champs likely #1 overall. Clemson gets their act together and finishes that cupcake schedule that is the ACC and has 13-0 record. TCU goes undefeated and is 13-0. USC finishes strong and is 12-1 Pac Conference Champion.

#1 OH ST
#2 Clem
#3 Bama
#4 TCU (13-0), Tenn (12-1) USC (12-1 conference champion)

I think we not only need to win against UGA, but we need some help or we need to win the SEC

I think TCU is as, or more, likely to drop one than Tennessee. I think one of TT, Texas, or Baylor will get them.

At least I hope so…

I see an issue with your scenario. Bammer beats uga on a neutral field, and assume business is handled by both otherwise, three one-loss SEC teams are not going to the playoffs. Do you really think they pick us over the runner-up in SEC game (like last year), defending national champs, who, incidentally, beat us? And they can't deny bammer.

The odds that three SEC teams will be in are very small. We need to win out, or have bammer drop a game and come in with two losses.

I prefer just that we beat uga though. :)

I think we can beat Kentucky but we must play well so I’ll say W.
We upset Bama at home but I’m not sure we can handle Georgia in Athens. L
We suck if we don’t beat Missouri at home. W
We’re better than South Carolina but need to play well. W
Its Vandy. W

I feel pretty confident that Heupel can out scheme Kirby but I don’t know if he can out star him this year, even though he did it to Saban.

Heart - we win them all.
Head - we win them all.

Nice to have the two in synch for a change.

Roast away, but ‘98 has been the ONLY year in my memory that they haven’t laid at least one egg. ‘89 Bama, ‘90 Bama/ ‘Barn, ‘91 Bama, ‘92 Arky and USCe 🤮……. Talk me off the ledge. I’ll hang up and listen.

The teams you listed have zero to do with the 2022 Vols. Hope that helps you off the ledge. 😁

So what team other than UGA can beat us? UK and SC can’t. So you think Missouri or Bandy beats us? Also why are you going back all those years to justify laying an egg? This isn’t Fulmers teams.

Georgia game will go down to the wire, much like Bama. Gonna be a tough game start to finish, just like Bama.

Gut 5-0

This team, these guys, this coach….are just different.

I know. Kentucky will be a tough out, and the history in Columbia is shady too (2016). But I’m learning to let go of the past. That’s why I need y’all’s help 😄
