FTR LG and others on the left... I do not believe that free speech should be squelched because of tragedies like this. As terrible as this attack was, it would be far worse if the enemies of free speech used it to "win".

The left is developing a record of wanting to shut down free speech since the public turns from them when it is informed of other pov's.

I'm about ready for the political correctness pendulum to swing. I think that strides are being made in that area, but it is so entrenched in acadamia that we may never see it in my lifetime. The internet is my only hope.

as long as journalism programs are littered with the garbage that they have today, change won't be happening in the major media. Beautiful that they've so painted themselves into irrelevance that bloggers now garner more respect. Nonetheless, the big name outlets will still dominate our conscious.

Pure comedy. There's a reason that you always hear people say something to the effect of "I'd rather not comment since the investigation is ongoing and it would be pure speculation." That guy didn't have the first clue what the assailant's political persuasion was and probably still doesn't know.

Trying to apoliticize this at this time would be absolutely impeachable for any law enforcement officer. His illness would raise a host of profound questions. And if the final answer is, "I was trying to impress Jody Foster" than that's the answer. If he's not already talking, I would think it suggests something else, although I'm no expert on mental health issues.
