I see the "green shoots" of civility have not quite sprouted yet. Any hope?

Sharron Angle was heavily financed and supported by the Tea Party and the GOP. She said:

"I hope that's not where we're going, but you know if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out."

Would have been nice to have the Tea Party and the GOP at the time say they disavowed that.

But they didn't.

how much destruction does the left do at their protests. there is no comparison between the tea party people say and all the soros funded marxist group. you're reaching gator.

Are you left leaning guys really prepared to suppress free speech over this? The suggestion that the "vitriol" has been worse from the right since Obama took office than it was from the left when Bush was in office is pure delusion. What Obama is getting is tame compared to "Bush lied and people died" and various other "vitriol" coming from the left. I think Bush deserved criticism. I think even the over the top stuff was protected by our 1st Amendment rights.

But now that the shoe is on the other foot... I can't help but protest the hypocrisy being displayed on the left from leaders down to posters on this board.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.

I think we deserve whatever punishment history has in store for us. Our culture is debauched, our politics less than infantile, our divorce from the real world so absolute, we are richly deserving of history's censure.

Funny since what drew me to the political forum in this instance is because as soon as I heard about the incident I knew exactly what your response would be.

And yet another acknowledges the 800lbs gorilla in the room.

Thankee. :hi:

None whatsoever. Same ole same ole. Radical right, neocons, right wingers, etc vs far left, lefties, liberal agenda etc. Political civility is dead on all sides.

Waiting on someone to post a comment from a candidate for the US Senate or even just the House that is the ACTUAL equivalent of "Second Amendment remedies" in one sentence followed in the next by "taking out" his/her opponent.

Think I'll be waiting forever.

Interesting read.

Dupnik himself later conceded on Fox News that his blaming vitriol was his opinion, not fact.

He's done that since yesterday. Says he does not know for sure whether politics motivated the shooter but that at any rate the right wing hate machine has used rhetoric that makes it generally more "thinkable" to use violence to make a point or effect change.

I personally think it is not his place to say this, especially now and especially because of his job as a responding law enforcement officer.

I also think he is 100 percent correct.

Basically anytime something like this comes up there is always a political angle to find and take advantage off.

He did it, and had to retract his comments as opinion and not fact. Which until then, there was weight put to because he is part of the investigation.

Political ground to be had from a tragedy.

There is a scene in "Casino" where the Bosses discuss putting a "hit" a guy that might give them up...it which goes

Vinny: He won't talk. Stone is a good kid. Stand-up guy, just like his old man. That's the way I see it.

Vincent: I agree. He's solid. A friggin' Marine.

Americo: He's okay. He always was. Remo, what do you think?

Remo: Look... why take a chance? At least, that's the way I feel about it.

It's hard to say for sure if this guy was motivated by any political rhetoric or not but on whether to tone it down because that may have been his motivation I'll follow Remo's approach...why take a chance.

so suppress free speech because some lunatic may kill someone without having heard it anyway? Not sure that's a good idea

Just because I think it meant that she wants to rub his big gun and take him out to dinner but I can't find anyone on volnation to contradict does not mean I'm right.

Good try though. :good!:
