Mitt was really solid kudlow. I feel like since he knows all the tax loopholes he will know how to close them and get us to "fair" tax. It's obvious O doesn't have a clue how

Among other things .

Why am I supposed to be up in arms about free trade agreements?

Not tying to be a Newt apologist. In fact, I'd have a hard time voting for him. But the venom with which he's being attacked is kind of amazing.

Newt has been able to move in the same circle of hell in my eyes as Ainge, Marcus Nash, Rod Strickland, WEB DuBois, and Robert Byrd.

Why would you expect Mitt to close those loopholes when the people that benefit the most from a complicated tax system are the very ones financing his campaign in expectation that he will allow the status quo to continue?

Entitlements might get cut (wouldn't count on it unless the GOP sweeps the fed elections, highly unlikely) but I'll put down a fiver saying shat doesn't get fixed on the tax code unless there's a significant change to the way legislation happens in Washington to begin with.

I some type of reform is inevitable; especially if the Senate flips Republican which is a very real possibility.

And then there's Nancy Reagan saying in 1995 that her husband thought highly of Newt and passed the torch to him.

This is overblown. Newt has a long record of statements and votes in congress. You can make him look any way you want if you dig long enough.

I don't think it takes very long at all.

No doubt. He's flawed in a number of ways.

I think it'sretty clear though that there's a concerted effort to bury him before he makes a good showing or even winsFlorida and really becomes a problem.

Bottom line: If you dig really deep, do you think he could beat Barack Obama in a general election? Let's just assume the economy continues to see okay but not great progress.

Romney takes back the lead in FL (aka FL comes to their senses)

2012 Florida Republican Primary - Rasmussen Reports™

Mitt Romney has jumped back ahead in the fevered Florida Republican Primary race with his support back to where it was before Newt Gingrich’s big win Saturday in South Carolina.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Florida Republican Primary Voters, taken Wednesday night, shows Romney with 39% support to Gingrich’s 31%. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum earns 12%, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul runs last with nine percent (9%). Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.

If UE is significantly over 8% and gas prices escalate in the Summer over $4, I think all bets are off as far as the electability question goes.
