It's just strange, IMO. Newt's a smart guy and all, but I don't buy the debate hype. I'm not blown away by his oratory skills, or his ability to present ideas. He's just really good at getting people pissed off.
He's gonna ride this one saying "they're scared to debate me"

Newt will use the "they're scared" line. I am no fan of Newt but I do think he is a very good debater. I don't think he has a problem presenting ideas, some of his outlandish ideas he is presenting is the problem. The colony on the moon is an example. He's been an expert at pissing people off for years.
His pinnacle moment in the race so far was an attack on the "elitist liberal media." I think that sums it up.
...and that's what many conservatives believe. There is a huge bias in the media, and anyone who will stand up and call them out (even if only for show) is going to get a huge response. That's not exactly appealing to the worst in people.
How is that a platform to run on? Where are the actual ideas? It would be completely different if he said "Here's what we're doing wrong, here are my ideas to correct that" (not that any of them except Ron Paul are doing this), but Newt's platform so far is "**** the elitist liberals vote for me!"
Maybe I'm missing something, but Newt's answers during the debates have been much more specific and on point than Romney's, and probably Santorum's as well. Sounds like he just rubs you the wrong way Milo.
