Just saw the first ad in Georgia from the Restore Our Future PAC. This is going to be annoying.

Hes got the righteous indignation to pull it off. Although I heard a cnn georgia debate got axed because mitt and ron wouldn't do it.

. . . and Rick. No way they're going to hand Newt a microphone that he hasn't paid for.

It's just strange, IMO. Newt's a smart guy and all, but I don't buy the debate hype. I'm not blown away by his oratory skills, or his ability to present ideas. He's just really good at getting people pissed off.

He's gonna ride this one saying "they're scared to debate me"

If by debate one means to present cogent arguments based on facts and logic, then Newt is horrible.

If by debate one means to tap into an audiences emotions, biases and predispositions to generate anger or euphoria, then Newt is decent.

Wouldn't that be a mostly accurate statement? I'm not accusing them as it would seem to be the wise decision. No reason to give Newt an audience and some sound bites if you don't have to.

Newt will use the "they're scared" line. I am no fan of Newt but I do think he is a very good debater. I don't think he has a problem presenting ideas, some of his outlandish ideas he is presenting is the problem. The colony on the moon is an example. He's been an expert at pissing people off for years.

I disagree. I think Newt wholly appeals to the worst in people.

That said, it is the smart move to not debate him (especially on his home turf). As long as peoples lasting memories of him are from Romney's attack ads and the fact that Newt is the portrait of what's wrong with Washington, he's dead in the water.

His pinnacle moment in the race so far was an attack on the "elitist liberal media." I think that sums it up.

...and that's what many conservatives believe. There is a huge bias in the media, and anyone who will stand up and call them out (even if only for show) is going to get a huge response. That's not exactly appealing to the worst in people.

How is that a platform to run on? Where are the actual ideas? It would be completely different if he said "Here's what we're doing wrong, here are my ideas to correct that" (not that any of them except Ron Paul are doing this), but Newt's platform so far is "**** the elitist liberals vote for me!"

Hey, I'm not disagreeing with you on the ideas (although he has given more than you give him credit for), I'm just saying that many conservatives believe that most of the R's want to be so badly accepted by the liberal media that they won't say anything about them. Think what you want of Newt, but he has no problem giving them a middle finger, and that wins a lot of points with many.

Maybe I'm missing something, but Newt's answers during the debates have been much more specific and on point than Romney's, and probably Santorum's as well. Sounds like he just rubs you the wrong way Milo.

His specifics are crazy. Colonizing the moon. Impeaching the 9th Circuit Court. Sending troops to Syria.
