Guess that instead of MAGA-style temper tantrums they just should have stuck around and voted. What a shame.

And LOL they blame the courts for their violation of a clear rule.

Sound familiar?

It obviously is.

The Oregon Reps missed at least ten votes. WI was once.

And Oregon had a rule on it. Passed by, you know, the people. Remember them ?

WI did not have such a rule. They are welcome to pass one.

So when you say they were different, you are quite correct.
I'm just wondering if the Dems in Texas were also throwing "maga style temper tantrums"

Right out of central casting.
Nothing will come of their vote but I agree with them in principle. People want representation. And rightly so in a representative Republic. If they are unwilling to move to where they feel better represented, this is the next logical step. Counties with geographical proximity to other states should be able to secede from one and join the other. Just as states should be able to secede from the union.

I do think that these should be 2/3 majority so that you don’t have flip flopping every election cycle, with the same for the state they’d be joining….because you know Bammers really want to be Tennessee

They have repreresenstation, they are just outnumbered. If everyone in the country left when outnumbered there'd be no country.

If they want to move, fine. In fact, they ought to move to Idaho or perhaps some country with few minorities and maybe a nationalist Christian government they might like more.

But they don't get to change boundaries to accomplish it.

Unless the State constitution forbids secession, they do (or should) get to change the boundaries to align themselves with representation where their voices are heard.

Tennessee is a red state. Should Hamilton County (Chattanooga) find better representations with Georgia, the people of Hamilton County should be able to make that decision.

Border changes would need to be approved by Congress

The greater issue is migration. People of Oregon we happy and developed a beautiful state. People in California see the beauty and lower COL and decide to move north. It doesn't take many before there are enough to bring the policies and such with them, not realizing that those policies are what's driving them from CA. There need to be measures available that would limit the influence from new residents....
Example, I know of a small SBC Church that was located on a very valuable piece of property, and the church had no debt. It was a small church that suddenly was seeing several large families that knew each other join (at that time all that was required to join was walk down the aisle on Sunday morning say you wanted to join and there was an immediate vote) The leadership got wind that the group had a plan to create a majority, vote to dissolve the church and split the money among all the members. What the group did not realize was that the church never purged their rolls so they got all the old family members to come back for a vote and change the membership process so that you had to go through a vetting process that took several months.....all those new members quit attending.

The minorities aren't the issue, it's centralized power in highly populated areas dominating the lives and politics that affect those in less populated areas.

Like it is not this is a bad indicator for the future of this country.

The last time there were issues like these playing out across the country there was civil war within 10-15 years. Not saying that will happen but it was a major factor in the distrust and hostilities that led up to it.

They live in Oregon. this isn't a case of white flight.

they aren't trying to secede to avoid minorities. they are seceding to avoid Dem policies.
