They have repreresenstation, they are just outnumbered. If everyone in the country left when outnumbered there'd be no country.

If they want to move, fine. In fact, they ought to move to Idaho or perhaps some country with few minorities and maybe a nationalist Christian government they might like more.

But they don't get to change boundaries to accomplish it.

Shouldn't a free people be allowed to flee mob rule?

Of course they get to change boundaries to accomplish it. Our history's full of examples. Otherwise Chicago's still in Virginia.

Anyone have a prediction about how the Socialists on the board would respond if, Oregon's constitution was successfully amended so that only those who owned land in the state had the privilege of voting?

The minorities aren't the issue, it's centralized power in highly populated areas dominating the lives and politics that affect those in less populated areas.

Its a big picture process problem, not simply short-term resentment politics?

Uh huh. Sure.

I think any American would react the same way: its blatantly unconstitutional.

Don't have to be Dem or GOP, right or left, red or blue, to know that basic truism.

Observe the attached picture. The circled area is known as the Northwest Angle...or the Angle by the locals. How could anyone oppose the people of that land voting to leave Minnesota / USA and become part of Manitoba / Canada?

The people living in the circled area would be within their right to leave Michigan and become part of Wisconsin if they desired.

It is???

If the citizenry of the state decided to amend their constitution to limit voting to land owners, they should have that right.

Would we rather Americans go to way against Americans to fight for the ability to join another state? Isn't it better to let people decide for themselves without war and bloodshed?
