just ignore it

I have decided that there has to be something somewhere "blocking" the electricity. This is probably fairly obvious to others, but my reasons are because

1.the way cells phones turned off. Instead of dying from dead battery they just shut off
(though when the pendant made it work it bothered me that the phone wouldn't have a charge)
2.The pendants have a program installed to work around this block
3.This explains why batteries won't work

The story line is so good, but the acting is so bad...

I am, but I notice every small thing. And there are a lot of them. I dont think its a battery thing, it's anything electrical. I mean everything electrical shut down. The pendant obviously is a way around it, I mean it made the computer work for the black lady too. The story line is interesting, and I do wonder who or what caused it. Who was the black lady talking to on the computer, why did the mom go to Miles, how do the pendants get around the electrical failures, etc. So there is enough to keep my interested...for now. Problem is it may very well get canceled before these.questions are answered. Plus like it has been said, the acting is just horrible. Hopefully it gets better as the season progresses.

The only thing that would affect the power grid and standard batteries at the same time would be a massive EMP shockwave; but it's impossibly to create an EMP large enough to take out the entire planet.

Even it this happened - it would only affect roughly 40% of batteries with zinc powder. Other sources of power - like wet cell batteries in cars and lithium batteries would be unaffected.

I'm willing to bet that's what is causing the outage in this plot - they will probably blame it on the Chinese =)

I'm not taking up for the show, I haven't watched it, but saying something is impossible in a fantasy television show just doesn't apply.

You guys are better than me. I gave up after the pilot episode. (and kinda regret not quitting after the sword fight scene)

Plot holes galore. Directing is bad. "Acting" is horrible.

I gotta believe the casting director lost a job after this.

It does imo. Star Wars is impossible but no one complains because its creative imagination. This show is just so stupid it insults the viewer's intelligence. Not only has power been stopped, gravity has been altered; jet planes cruising at 500+ mph suddenly fall straight down to earth like maple seeds.

There's a difference between being impossible with today's technology, and just plain impossible. Star Wars isn't exactly "impossible." It's science fiction. Parts of this show may be possible with some advanced technology (batteries not working, etc), but a lot of the show just ignores the fundamental laws of physics.

Fair enough. Like said, I haven't watched the show.

Finally pulled the plug about 20 minutes into the 4th episode. Kind of embarrassed it took me this long.

I must admit tonights episode wasn't too bad. The main chick still annoys me to no end, with her always about to cry look. Still had parts that made me shake my head and laugh, not in a good way. But it was better, Nevilles back story was kinda cool to see.

Finally watched the 2nd episode, and I must say... It wasn't quite as bad as the first one...

Or am I just telling myself that, because I really wanted this show to be watchable? The main chick is such a bad actor, I don't even find her attractive anymore.

The show has gotten a little better each week. Or maybe I'm doing what you said too. Sadly she is still really hard to watch.

It is, her crying/about to cry face makes me cringe. I really have no idea how she got the job.

Aside from the lead actress, the acting isn't that bad. The story is improving... Or I'm just getting used to how stupid it all is.

I jumped off the bandwagon the second the militia came into the picture. Weapons are very valuable and hard to come by but be that as it may, the militia has an endless supply of muskets, gunpowder and miniballs (which can be explained but melting lead). Its like the Civil War ended and a cache of weapons was stored just for this purpose.
