Rich Men North of Richmond

True. But their solution is wrong. Why force others to pay for them.

That's not what this is. This is a voter-passed tax of 4% on income of over 1 million. That tax generated a revenue of over 1 billion. Free lunches for kids is just one of the ways they decided to use the revenue.

Mob rule is what that is.

This thread is the perfect example of how pathetic we have become. Look at the OP first post. Did it come close to mentioning anything political? No it didn’t. It’s a freaking song. The man wrote it from his heart and soul. The conversations should be about his voice. Or his musicianship. But like everything else these days what ends up happening? It turns into a pathetic political argument. Sad.

Then it should be in another forum and not in the Politics forum if politics shouldn't be discussed.

The entire song is political in nature.

I heard this song yesterday for the first time. Consider me resonated.

This will bring out the Q Anon police lol.
"Wish politicians would look out minors, and not just minors on an island somewhere"

What exactly is this supposed to mean?

30-40 years ago this would be considered a liberal protest song
Hell, 7-10 years ago almost all of it would have been considered a liberal protest song.

The parts about your dollar being taxed to no end and fat people milking welfare, no, but everything else would be.

They guy's got a great voice. As for the song and its lyrics, it seems similar to numerous conservative laments by country singers but not too aggressively
right-wing. He mentions low wages, which are almost always the result of conservative/Republican/corporate decision-making, and in fact Dems have been fighting for higher pay for workers for a long time. Rural Americans vote against their economic interest when they vote for Republicans--but then cultural issues hold more sway with rural folk than the pocketbook. He complains about rich people, makes the usual fairly lame complaint about taxes, and howls about "total control"---which is a bit vague but reminds me of the usual, dumb conservative fretting about "freedom," which sounds good but is inane. Directly north of Richmond is a fairly well-to-do area, and then just past that you're in lower-income rural areas, where this cat probably lives. Not really different from most cities.

The left started in on this song calling it a "right wing anthem". It's not. I take it's about the politicians in general left and right. Its kinda like the old protest songs. But your right , times have changed. If this song had came out in the 60's and 70's it would have been the right calling the left a bunch of hippies and commies.

It’s “well to do” because it’s a cesspool of corrupt swamp creatures who are over paid by the federal government. Every large city that votes dems has run down very poor areas and I guarantee those areas are 99% dem voters
