Rich Rodriguez Turns Down Bama (Merged)

whats the over/under for # of coaches that turn down Bama before one accepts the job? 12?

Well IMO we are having a tough time right now, but we have NOT fallen to the bottom. Every team at some point and time is going to go through a bad situation and it may last a few years.

We will have a coach come football time, and we will have a good team next year. We are def not at the bottom......

Bammer has settled on their new HFC.

He meets all the criteria:

Played for the Bear ...

Bammer Grad ...

Bidness man ...

Half-a**ed ...

Imaginary ...

And I will say this. The coaches we have went after were coaches that had a lot going for them at their own jobs. I guarantee if Spurrier or Rich was having hard times they would jump all over the job. We were just to much of a risk to leave what they had going at the moment.

Dont you worry though, your still going to have a battle come the 3rd Sat in Oct! :)

Is there anyway we can chat at least half way serious? Please.

Also I will say this once.

Alabama fans loved and love Coach Bryant, but in all sincerity other teams fans are the ones who will not let him die. Also please respect a man that has passed away.

LOL

Have you ever BEEN to an Alabama game?

Surely you don't think everyone wearing those CHECKERBOARD hats are the other team's fans.

I don't think the programs at the bottom either, I think it's still falling..

We'll see when you finally get a coach, then a few years to recruit, it will be 3-4 years before the total impact is felt from the "hasty" firing of Shula..

Here's a stat that is a little mind blowing . . . Since Bear Bryant retired, 3 of the 6 coaches have been canned or left directly following a 10 win season . . . and Shula got fired only 1 year removed from a 10 win season.

Wonder why nobody wants that job?

The only coaches who would be willing to leave a very successful div 1 coaching position is if they have some kind of tie to Bama, as an alum, player, coach, etc. Otherwise forget it.

They are wasting their time going after these coaches thinking they are interested in making a lateral move to coach at a program notorious for firing their coaches.

Bingo . . . They need to figure out that they are in much the same position that Georgia was in when they fired Jim Donnan. UGA did their homework and made a good hire, and Bama can too if they'll come to their senses.

How about an old guy like Bill Snyder recently retired from Kansas State. He's only been out for one year. He might be interested in another rebuilding job. He took K-State from the absolute worst D-1 team to conference champion and BCS bowl.
