I pulled this off of a Bama forum. About what we expected. Here's what they are saying about CRR:

He's a BIG fish in a small pond in WV. He can do anything and they'll be happy in them hills.

He comes to UA, he is expected to win - BIG. He can't fool around with impugnity and he can't wast time. He has the following at WV. He'd make or lose a following at UA in one season.

Good thing we didn't get that coward

See that is the thing, the way the whole Shula firing hing was handled, he had to come through this better. They said he would not make an offer unless he was certain it would be accepted. The reports are this: RR's agent was in Ttown all day, HE worked out the details and came to an agreement with school officials. They just never brought ol' ROD into the loop before it leaked out to the press. Just like on this board, everyone wants to be the first to report the news, So as bammers were watching their OVERRATED bball team get whipped by Notre Dame they see the news and the rednecks went wild!

Rumor is that RR was actually forced to decline by Bama when the required photo of he and Bear Bryant together was proven to be a fake.

Mal Moore and most bama fans thought their Alabama is still that national championship Bama, and any coach, such as RR, should be very proud to be considered as Bama's head coach, and should be more than happy to accept the 2+m/yr offer from the glorious University of Alabama!

Nope, not any more. What's next? Is anyone on the market at the same level with RR? IMO, no, not even close. Paul Johnson? Proven winner, oops, Div. IAA; Jim Grobe? oops, 67-66-1; Jeff Tedford? "quarterback guru"! Go ahead.

If I was Mal Moore, I would probably do what Miami did, hire Joe Kines. But I am not sure if he would satisfy those Bama fans. So when they look back, they may want to think about it; is it really smart to fire Shula even without a serious candidate?
