I had a strong interest in local history when I was younger. So many of the beloved institutions of my progressive neighbors are named for people who are directly tied to things that are now being labeled racist. Of course, many of these neighbors are johnny-come-lateleys with little knowledge of the area's history. I may start showing up at some of their meetings to let them know how much damage they have done by supporting these racist homages.
