Richmond is taking down Confederate statues: Is this the end for other Confederate memorials?

I don’t know why people get hung up on the word traitor. All traitors are not equal. You have the Benedict Arnold type of traitor (bad) and you have other “ traitors” such as
The founders: traitors to the English crown, loyal to the Revolution
Confederates: traitors to the Union, loyal to their state
David Farragut: traitor to Tennessee but loyal to the Union
The Free French Army: traitors to the Vichy, loyal to a French Republic free of Nazi control
Dietrich Bonhoeffer: traitor to Nazi Germany, loyal to a Germany that didn’t murder Jews and his religion.

It’s a very tricky word to me that doesn’t necessarily connotate some sort of malfeasance. There has to be a better word.

It's also interesting to note that all the "traitors" were forgiven. That usually doesnt happen. Even the leaders.

The United States treated them like new territory not enemies.

South carolina formally requested the removal of federal troops from their state before they seceded. The feds refused. The feds were then seen as forcibly holding territory in South Carolina.
Also the South didn't leave all as one at the same time. Virginia and Tennessee left partially because they were going to be forcibly coerced into subjugating the other southern states, and they wanted none of it

And why would they raise arms against anyone? It’s not like we didn’t forcefully take their land and wipe them out.
So that’s all that ever happened huh?
No treaties signed that they broke?
No some tribes attacking other tribes or attacking innocent white people?
No tribes joining our foreign enemies and swearing war against the US this become traitors?

They were peacefully hunting buffalo and gathering berries and we opened up on them.

A mob, not soldiers in a state that stayed in the union. Try again.
The official first casualty of the American Civil War

“Elmer E. Ellsworth (May 24, 1861) — Union officer Ellsworth was a law clerk under Abraham Lincoln and an Army soldier. Just prior to the Civil War, he began recruiting for the 11th New York Volunteer Regiment. The day after Virginia voters ratified the state convention’s decision to secede from the Union, Ellsworth and his troops entered Alexandria, Virginia, to assist in the occupation of the city. There, while taking down a Confederate flag, he was shot point blank by innkeeper James Jackson, a defender of slavery.”

You seem to really like to tote the water for white people. It’s odd. Believe it or not, even white folks do terrible things. Whether it be the genocide of native Americans, or the murder of Arbery. Yet here you are, defending them at every turn.

I don’t defend the fact that the government and white people and black people and other Indians did some horrific things to some Indian tribes. But again they weren’t all peaceful loving Disney Indians minding their own business till the mean white men killed them either. Some were bloodthirsty savages, some were great people who were unjustly moved and some were simply traitors to the US

There were 2 Union soldiers killed by accident at Fort Sumter on April 15, 1861 in an explosion
