Richmond is taking down Confederate statues: Is this the end for other Confederate memorials?

Lenin Statue In Seattle

I know research is a bitch, but that statue is privately owned.

For that, I will direct you toothless bastards to the Nathan Bedford statue on the side of i65.

First of all, I didn't use equality as the reason to remove Confederate statues. I said getting angry at equality is the only way @AirVol can get it up.

Secondly, the statues should be removed because they idolize treasonous traitors who wanted to destroy this country. They were the Al-Qaeda of the 1800's, the most Anti-American POS's ever.

Apologies. Long day. I should have read further back in the thread. We can agree that anyone who fought for slavery was not a good person.

Statues aren't history and inanimate objects like burning crosses, nooses, structures with the N word written on them, and unjust laws impact equality all the time

Unjust laws certainly impact equality. I have no argument there.

To clarify, it's not the statues I care about. They're just art pieces. It's what demand is made next by the woke mob, and there will be another one. Our youth need to be taught our history. They need to know about the mistakes that were made in the past.

Protesters don’t GAF about private property and you know this. Bring it down!

Oh, guess you missed all the footage of socialist dims burning businesses and destroying personal property. They don’t GAF, so why isn’t Seattle stepping up their game? Because they praise Lenin?

That statue is vandalized regularly and has been for decades.

You're drawing a really dumb comparison here. You're just rambling at this point.

Excellent idea. If you're worried about history, why not promote the best history has to offer?

We Should Name Military Bases After Lynched Black Veterans Who Fought for Freedoms They Were Denied
I don't recall anyone asking for the names of any military installation to be renamed because of who they were named after until all of the rioting and statue toppling started. Be honest, did you even know or care who these military bases were named after? To be honest I never thought about it and don't care. All of this cancel culture crap needs to come to an end.

If you don't care, then you're fine with renaming, yes?

Doesn't look like ole Chip will be coming down anytime soon. The city of Franklin is planning to erect a statue to the US Colored troops on the square facing the Confederate statue. A similar plan is being considered in Murfreesboro in leaving the Confederate statue, adding others and making the square a historical park. There has also been some talk of taking General Hatton's statue off the square in Lebanon. Lewisburg and Fayetteville also have Confederate statues on the courthouse squares, haven't heard anything on them.

The city settled with the confederate daughters heritage group and they now own the land under the monument. It is there forever for all practical purposes. The city in return doesn't have to risk a judge deciding that the daughters group owns the whole center of the square.

General Hatton in Lebanon is sitting on private property and isn’t going anywhere.

Native Americans there Rick. When's the last time you saw a statue of one on main street btw?
The physical location matters? Willing to bet there are plenty of NA statues not on reservations.

And I think you mean loser terroristic traitors. In both cases the federal government border crossed the Natives and the South.

Trail of tears needs to be turned into a celebration right? That's a highway of American righteousness running roughshod over anyone who dares question the government.

If you are unwilling to apply a consistent standard maybe it's time to recalibrate.
