Richmond is taking down Confederate statues: Is this the end for other Confederate memorials?

No one said it's scary just that it's racist. But thanks anyway for outing yourself as a racist.
I am double racist bc my best friends are black and I even baby sit their kids all the time..... of course I guess I am the lucky one..... they don’t suffer from white fragility.

I have found that my black friends are not as fragile as my white liberal friends..... I can pretty much give any opinion I want to my black friends and they are honest right back if they don’t agree...... I have to really think about what I say in front of my white liberal friends.

This has been my experience as well.

Georgia House to consider replacing Confederate statue with statue of John Lewis

A bipartisan push in the Georgia legislature would replace a statue of Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens with one of the late congressman and civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) in the U.S. Capitol’s National Statuary Hall.

State House Speaker David Ralston (R) will co-sponsor the measure with state Rep. Al Williams (D), according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The effort has secured bipartisan support among Georgia’s Congressional delegation as well, with U.S. Reps. Tom Graves (R) and Sanford Bishop (D) both writing in support of it, according to the newspaper.

Gov. Brian Kemp (R) would have to approve the switch, but he has previously expressed support, as has Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R), the president of the state Senate.

Nathan Bedford Forrest’s Remains to be Moved

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The remains of General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife are set to be removed from Health Sciences Park in the next couple of weeks.

Edward Phillips is the attorney representing the family. He said they were shocked when the statue was taken down, but has agreed to move the remains so they can put this all behind them.

“They weren’t prepared for that eventuality at that point in time, right then and there,” he said. “They were upset when on live TV everything was being taken apart.”
