Richmond is taking down Confederate statues: Is this the end for other Confederate memorials?

Nathan Bedford Forrest’s Remains to be Moved

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The remains of General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife are set to be removed from Health Sciences Park in the next couple of weeks.

Edward Phillips is the attorney representing the family. He said they were shocked when the statue was taken down, but has agreed to move the remains so they can put this all behind them.

“They weren’t prepared for that eventuality at that point in time, right then and there,” he said. “They were upset when on live TV everything was being taken apart.”

They should have sued the city for desecration of a grave.

City isn't doing it. Not to mention it is being done under a legal agreement and in coordination between the property owner and the Forrest family. Unless you meant the first time they were moved there - statute of limitations probably ran out on that, though.

Several years ago when 5hey tore down the statue(grave stone)? Also I'm pretty sure there is no limitation on desecration of a grave.

City didn't tear down the statue either. They sold the property it was on. Maybe they could go after them for the move from Elmwood to downtown. But I believe the family agreed to that move as well.

The guy was a murdering, traitorous slave trader who massacred Union soldiers after the fall of Fort Pillow. Leave his remains where they're at and put an outhouse on top of it.

Mississippi governor declares Confederate Heritage Month and Confederate Memorial Day

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves signed a proclamation declaring April as Confederate Heritage Month.

"As we honor all who lost their lives in this war, it is important for all Americans to reflect upon our nation’s past, to gain insight from our mistakes and successes, and to come to a full understanding that the lessons learned yesterday and today will carry us through tomorrow if we carefully and earnestly strive to understand and appreciate our heritage and our opportunities which lie before us," the proclamation reads.

The document also declares April 26 as Confederate Memorial Day.

Will they place participation ribbons on all the confederate graves?

So did the Vietnam Vets that were abused when they got home.
Clearly the same. The reasons for the confederacy were pretty clear. Use any excuse about why they fought but we're 160yrs later and idiots are still celebrating the L.
