If the goal is to “have a chance to make it to the tournament almost every year” then Barnes shouldn’t be the fifth highest paid coach in the country.

Outside of Houston, O’Neil, and Buzz, we’ve mostly had pretty good coaches over the past 30-40 years. Barnes isn’t worth what we are paying him. Fulmer pretty much ruined everything he touched as AD.

Tennessee has made the NCAA tournament 14 of the last 22 years with 4 of the 5 coaches who've coached here since then. All 4 have made the Sweet 16 here. People apparently got so scarred by Wade Houston and Kevin O'Neil they think no one can win here and that if we squeak into the NCAA we should be happy.

If we'd let Barnes go when he had the chance, we wouldn't be getting stomped by a 12 seed in the NCAA opener.

... not sure we would be in the NCAA opener, but we wouldn't be getting stomped by #12 either way.

You’re delusional. Pearl had us in the tourney every year he was here. Took us to an Elite 8. It’s not like our program has sucked. Barnes takes great teams and underachieves every year. He’s not worth what we pay him

I agree with you but this lackluster performance is on CRB. We should be playing much better than this. Oregon State’s coach is coaching circles around Rick. The criticism on CRB Today is warranted.

All you people wanting better than Barnes are stupid as f***. That's how we ended up with Donnie T. Just shut up already. He's got us competing every year, and he's kept us away from the #BBB bs and sanctions. Go back to the FF and blow wind there.

Aside from Mears and Pearl what coach has Tennessee hired in their history that has been better than Barnes?

No, and that’s the awful truth that nobody wants to admit.

Today is not a surprise. This is the same team we’ve painfully watched since January. Just not a very good team. It never gelled.
