Rick Barnes discussion (merged)

That’s why I want Barnes to leave on his terms whenever he wants to. He has TN at a historically very high level. Allowing him to retire on his terms would be a refreshing change.

Mears was pushed out (because pharmacology in 1977 wasn’t effective for his condition).

Devoe was fired. As soon as he got TN back into the NCAAT.

Houston was fired.

O’Neill got butt hurt and quit.

Green was pushed out (because of his ****ty attitude).

Buzz was fired.

Bruce made bad decisions and was fired.

Cuonzo was a bad choice to immediately follow Pearl, both sides didn’t get along, he ran off ahead of being fired.

Donnie came with baggage and was forced out.

That’s a really sad history and stained reputation for any really good coach to want to step into if there are other options available. It sure would help out to have a coach retire and continue on as a friend and an advocate for the program.
Buzz was looking quite aged on the Jumbotron yesterday. He was cheered and then he placed his hand over his heart. He was always a class guy.

You don’t watch the games if you think there is no emphasis on the 3 ball. SMH
Yes I do. They’re an inside out team, and when they get hot from 3 they’re tough to beat. They don’t get hot from 3 against good teams though. Because they don’t draw up plays to get guys open for 3s. They just have guys willing to take them if they’re open or even have guys that take iffy 3s that make them. Because Barnes doesn’t build his roster for modern basketball or run a modern offense. There’s not a single guard on the team that can consistently create for themselves and others and outside of Vescovi they don’t have a dependable 3 point shooter. It’s been the same one dimensional offensive approach every year since after the 18-19 team

MJ’s former roommate, as he always made sure to remind everyone he was lol, got good players here. If he could coach at even an average level, he might still be our coach, tbh

I think he tried recruiting with his history though. I don’t think he was a good salesman or developed many grassroots relationships. After Pearl was here for a bit, I remember thinking that we finally had someone who would play the basketball recruiting game.

I wanted Buzz to get another year or two by hiring Devoe as a competent, in game assistant. Bruce helped me move on from that wish real quick.

Be like me and never, ever trust a Rick Barnes coached team and the losses don’t hit you as hard🤷🏻

I see your point...I mean, who can trust someone who took a below average, dumpster fire program and has them ranked in the Top 10 AFTER just losing to a very talented team who just so happens to be our biggest b-ball rival.

LMAO

For someone with so much practice, you really do suck as a troll

I give Barnes hell, but I actually thought he did well in the second half yesterday. We actually ran a couple pick and rolls, and then going to the horns set(which is one of my favorite.) He actually sort of just let ZZ play street ball last night instead of just sticking him in a structure. I wish he would do more of that.

I LOL’ed and cursed at the same time! Jeez that’s embarrassing! Douglas Adair Dickey really set the tone for the admin to go on such a run!

And 🤡zo gets too much credit, if not for JRich playing like he did in tournament, we all know where that team finished.

Oh. I get it now. You mean drive-by. I was trying to figure out how posters made dumb drives to the basket.

I might could be in trouble alot if posting grammar-grades gonna be posted. I goad to public-school. At least I didn’t say bi-posters.
