Barnes Coaching in Basketball, is like Richt Coached in Football. He’ll win enough regular season games to be in the top 15 year in and year out. Currently, it appears this is good enough to be the Head Basketball Coach at TN. He’ll always lose a few games he shouldn’t and will never do well in the Big Tourney.
Chris Lofton deserved a better effort today…..really a Dang shame.

You do realize that if he were to do that and maintain it (which he has) it would make him the best coach in UT basketball history not named Pat Summit. Its not like UT has some history on winning nattys and getting to elite 8's. Record wise only Ray mears has more wins and a higher winning percentage. In fact, at his current pace, he will have more wins in 9-10 years than Devoe 11 and Lowery 12 and will be close to catching what mears did in 15.
How many nattys did any of those guys get? I'll help you out

Barnes has 4 of our 24 tourney appearances. 1 of the 8 sweet 16 appearances (just as many as Mears and Devoe). Only 2 Devoe and Pearl had more Tourney appearances. Devoe 2 more but of course he coached 4 more years. Pearl had more appearances and sweet 16's and if you really want to look at the numbers would go down as the most successful coach in UT history except he got run out of town for doing a big stupid. Outside of some huge implosion this season and him getting fired he is easily on track to the winningest and most successful coach in UT men's BB history and its debatable right now if he isn't already given what he has accomplished.
