Barnes has taken the program as far as he can, this is the ceiling
Its a consistent theme with Barnes and has been since he got here. Sure, winning them all is hard, but 3 losses to crap teams is a bad sign for the post season. A team thats top 25 in defense will knock this team out of the tournament. We're a top 5 team, man. You aren't going to win them all, unfortunately. It's like you guys expect to win every single game or you're going to melt down in a fit of rage. I'm pissed about tonight too, but it happens to everybody. I think tonight was a bit of a letdown game after a home win over a top 10 team. We looked a bit gassed... a lot of short shots and sloppy defense.
How about not lose to a bad Colorado and Florida team? Or not lose to an average kentucky team at home?Fellas…. We are 7-2 in the - admittedly - crappy conference with a crappy loss on the road, and a crappy loss at home.
Overall, not too shabby for a football school. We will win Saturday and all will be good. You guys attacking barns are amazing - it’s not like we are freaking 1982 UNC or something. This is rare and unprecedented air in the entire history of our program. Like WTF - did you guys really think they were gonna run the table ?
If so, life must suck at your house.
You were harping about March before the season even started. That's fine, but let's not pretend a conference road loss is some sort of defining factor. This is one of the highest ranked basketball teams Tennessee's ever had and you can't see it because all you care about is the opportunity to rip the coach after every loss. Its a consistent theme with Barnes and has been since he got here. Flip the losses of Tx and UF and its not as big of a deal, when you lose to good teams, but Barnes loves losing to crap teams.
The omen for March/April is/was already there. Most good teams have questionable conference losses, especially on the road.Barnes deserves 100% of the flack for this loss. Our season isn't doomed, but this is very discouraging and concerning. I will give Barnes a little slack on the whole since we have played some really good ball in other games. It's still hard to not look at this loss as a bad omen for March/April.
