Laughable that you fail to realize they have not had a 1 or 2 seed since 2009 yet still have three national titles under two head coaches in that timeframe as a 3,7, and 4 seed. Hang a banner Barnes…that simple…Final Four or better. At this point in his tenure that is what it will take. You keep making excuses for why we fail in March…it falls on deaf ears. It’s funny that the posse in here can not take any critiques of Barnes constructively and think we automatically hate the guy. He can be a good coach and still need improvement. Just because all of you live in here and post all the time doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t watch every game and know what’s going on.

Just like last season when ZZ went down and Santi had to be the point guard.

How many titles do you have, since you say that's what you're shooting for? Why are you continuing to argue about the 2020 season, as if it is some important benchmark? Since you jumped in and though I am done. He brought Santi in after that next season had alreadt began in November 2019 after the flirtation with UCLA had ended. He also brought in Uros knowing that he had not recruited well enough and that was in May after the UCLA stuff had ended. That was the start of the quick retooling which was good on his part but only done because he knew he thought he was leaving. Doubtful Josiah stays if Barnes had left as well but you would have ask him. So yes that is dry. Bowden, Turner, and Fulky were all 4th-5th year players that were remnants of the good teams Barnes built with Admiral, Grant and company. Turner is so old he was actually in recruiting class before all those guys. Glad we retooled and got back to business. I also wonder if that is why he started taking more one and done guys than he normally does but again hard to pass up the services of any of these guys albeit you get them for such a short period. Either way he has it back to where it was as I have zero doubt in my mind Rick Barnes is very capable of building good rosters. Rick Barnes is a good coach. I like Rick Barnes. I simply want more success than 1 Sec regular title and a couple Sweet 16’s. Later.

For some statistical fun, in case one didn’t think sweet 16 was a big deal or up to snuff, making the sweet 16 means that that team is in the top 4-5% of all D1 basketball teams.

Thanks man. I view our program as one of the top 5 percent of basketball programs. We certainly have the attendance, facilities, and pay the coaching staff in the top 5 percent. I am sorry we have do not have the current success or historical success in March that we should but it is past due for that to change. I will continue to expect it to happen and will not be satisfied until we knock down that door. I get your stats but Mears was held out of tournaments because it was a different time and teams were not allowed in and Barnes has already coached here longer than Pearl who has went to a worse Sec program and had plenty of success there so safe to think we would have kept it rolling here. So Barnes was no longer allowed to recruit after the spring? Uros was already in the works, he played HS ball in Chatt and his coach as ASU left. Santi wasn’t even going to play in 2019-2020 but Turners season ended early and Santi was forced to play early.

Doubtful that JJJ stays? That’s your opinion. Not facts.

All the older guys on the team aren’t allowed to play their junior and senior seasons? So Barnes is to be faulted because he had upperclassmen on the team, like that was an accident?

Fulk and Bowden played behind some of the best players we’ve had, so getting to play once Grant and Admiral left isn’t some accident. Should we just not count JJJ’s and Santi’s contributions this year because they’re old?

Barnes had a pretty good idea about Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer when UCLA came calling. He turned them down in April, 2019 and Keon committed in August, and Springer committed in October. Those were long term recruitments.

I obviously view us as a “top 5 percent” program. What you’re missing is that if we don’t make the elite 8, it doesn’t mean something is wrong with Barnes. I’m highlighting the percentages to explain to you how astronomically hard it is to get to the elite 8 and the final 4. My lord
