Rick Barnes discussion (merged)

Confucius Say: Celebrate the journey, not the destination.

Yeah, I don’t know if he actually said that, but he should have.

Reminds me of two old quotes:

#1 The similarity between a moped and a fat girlfriend? They're both fun to ride but you don't want your friends to see you on one.

#2 The similarity between making love with a big ol' girl and a Playboy model is? The journey contains different hills and valleys but the destination is the same.

I can understand folks who want to complain about lack of tourney success, but how you can’t at least thoroughly enjoy the season and appreciate it baffles me.
For anyone who claims UT fandom, if you can’t be absolutely stoked over that win last night, then you‘re following the wrong team and the wrong sport.

Idk what's funnier, the fact you didn't post this after the BUTCHERING Kentucky gave them last month or the fact that your comment has anything to do with Rick Barnes teams being inconsistent on offense and underperformed when it matters. Call me when they make it to the FF.
Your opinion is irrelevant. Your telling us that last night didn’t “matter”? Please. How about if we call you, we just call you a non Vol fan and leave it at that?

So last nights game doesn't matter?
Where in my post did I say that?
So final four or the season is a failure? That’s your standard
No my standard is an early tournament exit because that's what Tenn bball is.
Apparently me leading off with that Im a fan of Rick and I'm fine with him coaching him a long time didn't make a difference in getting my point across.
All I said was Rick Barnes is a sweet 16 coach. So when I say "call me when they make the FF" I'm saying I'm not calling him anything more than that until he at least takes 1 UT team to the FF. And the best team he's had they bowed out early.

Please explain to me where in that post I said last nights game "didn't matter".

You implied it with the " Rick Barnes teams being inconsistent on offense and underperformed when it matters.". Don't run from your comment or just show up after a loss.
What are you talking about??? They played a ranked team trying to gain 1st place in the conference and they went back to their offense being bad. Sounds like it was a game that mattered to me 😂

I went over to my dad's to watch it with him. I can't watch them all but try to when it's against a good opponent. Why on earth would I watch it if it didn't matter?

2 things can be true at the same time. Somehow I can post this (on the 1st page too):
Lol again he can coach for another 20 years and I'll be happy but I keep thinking "maybe this is the year they make that deep run" only to be disappointed. Why can't he get any consistent offensive play?
But apparently I think UT is better than Barnes, want him gone, think if UT doesn't reach a FF all the time its a failure, unhappy with the success,, I'm a troll, etc... I'm starting to think the Barnes defenders are worse than the Fulmer ones lol.

Zero chance this team makes the FF. Fans may need to adjust their expectations. I could see sweet 16 or 1st round exit. But too inconsistent to make the FF. I just hope we get further than last season.

Exactly. It's just like football in the late 90's. We didn't win big enough for some. Now look at what we've been thru. Barnes won't be here forever. I, for one, will savor every game and every win. We're talking a 3 or 4 seed not trying to find a way to get into the tournament. Enjoy these years while we have them. Good times.

Now look who's running from their comment. You too, buddy.
I don't wish to argue with you, when you are obviously not following your own conversation.

You implied days ago, that CRB teams struggle in "games that matter". We win against Kentucky and the offense looked pretty good. This is why posters have replied to your comment that we played good in a game that mattered. We obviously did not play well yesterday and you magically make an appearance. (Now that I have caught you up to speed on the conversation, have a great day).

Simply look at our Road Games This Season.
There is a difference is between shot Selection, Confidence, Offense Movement and other Areas.
Yes the Refs will affect the Flow of the Game, but CRB Coaches differently on the Road than he does at home.
Several passed up several early shots in the game. Why? Motion Offense not as intense.

Our Road Games and losses are great indicators, but against ranked teams our average is in the 50s.
Villanova, Texas Tech, Alabama, LSU, Texas, Arkansas and KY. @KY we had no choice but to abandoned the game plan to catch up....
Hence the reason for early exits.

This is his achilles heal
