Said Saban made a mistake not running at least once to run the clock down or force Tennessee to use a TO (I agreed). If Tennessee had one less TO, the drive doesnt happen.

Then he explains the pass patterns each WR runs. On the first play, 3WRs on one side of the field, Bama covers the "Go" route and the short guy but allows the middle guy, who Tennessee wanted to get the ball to anyway, to get open. Keyton catches the ball for about 17 yd gain. Then, and you'll love this, Tennessee lines up the exact same way on the other side of the field and runs the exact same play. Alabama changed their defense to one that should have worked but their CB, Kool Aid, lost the WR and McCoy enough to allow McCoy to get open for the big catch......

Their biggest mistake was not covering every receiver all the time?

If you want coulda-shoulda-woulda, maybe look at the fumbles by both sides that led to a touchdown.
Both teams had a critical stop taken away by PI in the endzone (that both fans dispute)
Both teams had a chance to kick that field goal.

One less timeout changes nothing really other than us running up and spiking it with 1 second left instead of a timeout with 2

Saban's clock management at the end of the game looked like he hadn't played in enough close games. That's all on him. Leaving 15 seconds was a gift, not that most of our former coaches wouldn't have take a knee and gone to OT.
He didnt think we could anything in 15 seconds. He wont make that mistake against us again.

You don't think the play calling changes in anyway if we start the drive with fewer timeouts? Even the reads?

Hooker had 9 seconds, and he took his time knowing he had a TO.

Because of the TO Hooker was able to scan the field and make certain he was making the correct throw. Which was brilliant by the way…….lots of QB’s would have felt the “time” pressure I think. However Hooker seemed like he was standing there forever…….simply because he knew he had the time to do so.

That time out changed everything.

We have no idea if it changed the outcome. But it certainly changed how that play transpired.

That's two games he lost because of clock mismanagement. The other of course was against Auburn.
There may have been more. I didn't see them but have been told he mismanaged and lost the two bowl games he coached while at Michigan State.

He does have a great record when he has the overwhelming player talent advantage though.

I noticed kind of weirdly that Tootoo was spying/covering the RB on the throw to Bru. Odd decision. I’d let Henson run all he wanted or let him check down for sure. Strange not to bring pressure only to stop a 5 yd gain when we need 20ish.

The fact they missed a 50 yard field goal is why they didn't run it. They weren't confident where they were on the field. The kicker would have missed a 48 yard field goal if they would have ran it once. Yeah we wouldn't have had time to win, but Saban liked the chances of winning in regulation more than overtime. He didn't anticipate we would be able to go 40+ yards in 15 seconds.
