According to a very reliable source close to the Butler program (his high school), *Ferguson has until Monday to make a final decision. The source said he thought Riley was in Knoxville yesterday, but could not confirm he had met with Butch Jones. That same source said he thought Riley would wait until Monday to decide. I asked the the source if they thought he stays or goes and his response was "stays". With all this said, I think this is a fluid situation and it appears no final decision has been made yet.*

NB4 someone posts the "if he's not going to put forth the work, then just let him go" comment. I'm sure it's a difficult decision, and it's amazing to me how some people don't get how much time and effort is required of these young men to play collegiate football... especially at the QB position.

It'll be pretty funny to see the back tracking if he comes back and then ends up the starter. All those posters happy that he is gone will be his biggest supporters once he starts and wins.

Do we really want a qb that stood the coaches up? We atleast know he was extremely late if he did show up to the meeting because it was reported CBJ was waiting for him and he hadn't showed. That doesn't sound like someone that is a loss in my book.

An if all the not wanting to watch film is true.... Just sounds like he would be more drama than anything else. IMO.

Don't be so quick to bring down the hammer without intimate knowledge of what's in the kid's head. Who knows - maybe going through this process helps him find his motivation to develop the mental side and necessary work ethic. Wishful thinking, anyway.

Where did you read this? If this is the case, really poor judgement on his part. Never burn a bridge. Always try to leave situations as positively as possible. You never know...

The question now isn't if the coaches want him to stay now the question is how would the locker room receive him. I can imagine it would be pretty tough to comeback in and try to lead when players know deep down that you don't want to be there. Will the players be that open to him when they know he not 100% bought in.

I personally don't think we can afford to lose him. By all accounts we don't have a proven QB. We have game managers but not one has stepped up to be an actual SEC caliber leader. Not seeing him in game action I have no opinion on his ability. Never having met him. I have no opinion on his character. But if he stays. And he plays. I will root for him like all others who wear the orange. Live and die as one. Go Big Orange.

I'm not sure I'm buying this "update." I heard CBJ say that RF "is no longer a part of the program." This is very different than his posture regarding Pig's status, for example.

I think CBJ said he did not expect RF to be part of the football family moving forward.

Yes, he did say that… the day before he said this:

"Speaking at the Southeastern Conference spring meetings Tuesday night, Jones said that "Riley's no longer with the program."
