Riley Ferguson

Fact is that there are no QBs on this roster that have any PATTERN of success that precludes ANY candidate from taking the job...that includes Worley and Dobbs...if either wins the nod, they have my FULL support...this ABSOLUTE certainty from some posters that Riley can't comes across foolish and biased against swagger and tattoos. :)

I've got tattoos and swagger but I'm still rooting for Worley.

Riley was also named one of the "top redshirt freshman ready to break out in 2014" by Fox Sports.

Riley Ferguson, QB, Tennessee

Ferguson suffered injuries to his throwing hand before and during his senior season at Butler (N.C.) High School but still lead his team to a state championship. Although Scout four-star recruit Joshua Dobbs arrived with more fanfare, Ferguson was placed on a 6,000-calorie-a-day diet and fought through a leg injury during his first season on Rocky Top.

With none of his three counterparts taking the reins on the quarterback job at Tennessee, the gun-slinger is in a perfect spot to do so with a productive spring camp.

With former Scout four-star wideouts Josh Malone, Marquez North and LaVon Pearson as weapons to go with former four-star tight ends Daniel Helm and Ethan Wolf, the Vols' starter has a silo of destructive weapons to get Tennessee football back on track

One of the reasons i love Riley so much - He dissed Bama! He rejected their offer and decided to come to TN. With the way this Board worships Saban, I'd think you would recognize that if Saban was going after Riley he is likely a pretty good QB.

This is cause imo Dooley sold UT not just him. IMO why Dooley didn't go the super early commitment route. Both he and the recruit had to be 100% committed.

I like Fergy, got a gut feeling he's gonna be something special. Maybe not this yr, but eventually. I really do wish Worley and Peterman (if he doesn't transfer) eventually. I like Dobbs, but for some reason I just don't see him being the final guy. He may be to smart, and has aspiration bigger than being the next PM. Which is great, but being on the team may just be a means to get his degree for free. Especially cause he is an out of state student.

I will admit I'm old school so I hope CBJ has Fergy wear long sleeves cause I can't understand the prison tats for a kid his age, but I think the kid is a baller. In a sense, Arghh hate to say this, may have the Bray swagger. The only good thing is he has actual competition to ground him. Something Bray didn't, so he could be as bratty as he wanted. Once the fergs grasps it he will do well imo. Again though I really do hope Worley and Peterman figure a way to leave UT on a positive note, cause they are Vols.

So to all my followers...the above is just IMHO. Which means...documentation not needed.

I don't undersand why everyone wants Dobbs to start over Riley. He looked bad last year and we lost to Vandy with him at QB.

The fact we haven't yet seen Riley in an actual game with the ones around him gives me hope that he is actually better than the other QBs on the roster. (The only reason he didn't play last year was because he was injured). We better hope he is talented, because after this year Worley is gone and we will need someone capable of throwing the ball accurately to our WR in 2015

{Insert generic one bad call away from winning post}

Seriously though, I want to see whoever Jones chooses play first. Dobbs, Ferguson, Worley, Jones himself, the waterboy, whoever. But I wouldn't be so quick to judge Dobbs simply because he played poorly as a true freshman who first saw any snaps versus Alabama, Missouri, Auburn, and even Vandy (they had a winning mentality already in that game, perhaps we didn't).

The truth is that Dobbs' record in 2013 was better than Worley's, Worley was also bad performance through the year, especially Oregon, Florida(2H), Howard, Neal, North and OL led the good game against UGA and USCe.

Ummm... you sure about that?

Worley was 4-3 (1 loss was the UF game in which Peterman played the 1st half)
Dobbs was 1-3

Both share a loss at Bama (not included in above records)

Worley had 10 TDs (passing) and 8 INTs
Dobbs had 2 TDs (passing and 6 INTs

Worley's best win - SCAR
Dobbs' best win - Kentucky

It seems like when one shows support for Worley it's somehow a bad thing. I could be wrong POA, but it does kind of seem that way.

It more like, if you dont think Dobbs will start and win the Heisman, you must hate the kid. But if you say that Ferguson will never play a down at UT because he had a bad spring game, theres no problem. If you say Worley will start, you have to be insane because hes just the safe pick and wont win us 10 games.

Ive been saying I think Worley starts and the #2 spot is still up for grabs... but then again people say I have an agenda because I think the coaches will base their decision off of the entire body of work and not just 1 spring game.

Before the spring game, those who picked Dobbs were laughed at. Especially by Fergy fans. My, my, my how the times have suddenly changed!

Cool with either Worley or Dobbs btw!

after the o&w i have zero expectations of rf. He has to learn to read defenses a lot better as well as take care of the ball more before he's ready. Talent is there but a lot of the other pieces have got to come together before i expect much. That said, if he starts then he gets my support 100 percent and i'll probably expect more from him since he'll not only have beaten out others but also the coaches will upped that level of expectation by putting their stamp of approval on his progress.

Tbh, i don't know what to make of fr right now and i certainly wouldn't right him off - every day is a chance to improve and prove he's starting material. Hope he's busting tail in the film room and on the field this summer.

I suppose my expectations for him are that of a raw qb with talent but a long way to go yet. Again, hopefully the summer/fall does him good.

Fall camp is when the real expectations should start to settle in.

excellent

this...:eek:lol:. and then fergy fans have the nerve to complain.

c'mon guys!

There is something they don't like about fergs but I can't put my finger on it. I wonder if it's his inability to read defenses or lack of a strong work ethic, which seemingly are Dobbs strengths?
