RIP Twitter

I don't think it's some big problem that he's cracking down on parody accounts. Who really cares, except it's fun to make fun of him for it. This wasn't a problem until he created it this past week. It's pretty funny.

Also, what are the odds anybody liking your post now were liking posts a year ago where the message was that Twitter is a private company? Probably not good.
I would say, with confidence, hog, slice would definitely support a private company making rules in its interests. And I suspect ND40 would, too. Those are the only ones who liked it at the time of this reply.

It doesn't matter to me if he is made fun of for cracking on parody accounts. But, we don't know enough of the inner workings to know if it was a problem or not.

Seems the twitter-sphere is just pissed it is musk taking over because he isn't liberal enough. I think Twitter would support the same things Musk is doing if it were Soros who took over.

I liked your post because I like you. 😘

I'm still saying they probably weren't liking those posts with regard to Twitter a year ago.

Maybe so. They are a fickle flock of fellows.

So, you mentioned you don't really care about the parody stuff re Musk. What is the hub bub about with Twitter right now?

Since we've hit on concepts, I'd like to remind that the government doesn't "allow" free speech. The concept is the government cannot prohibit free speech...especially speech related to government or its agents. And yet, there are instances where it is prohibited or at least consequential.

Free speech outside of that concept, isn't unlimited and it is frequently consequential. We've recently seen platforms limit or exclude based on ideology, bias and prejudice, bigotry, etc.
Alex Jones was free to say whatever he wanted to say about Sandy Hook with regards to the government shutting him up. But as you said his fellow citizens don’t have to put up with it and likewise are free to seek satisfaction in the courts. Which they did.

I think twitter is going to be fine. Lots of bad optics, but you're going to get that no matter what with a transition like this. I don't think Musk is ruining Twitter and not sure he's making it better. Too early to tell, and his track record the last few months doesn't give me any sense that I can predict where this is going. He's got me questioning everything about him, now.

When Trump cucked Musk on social, my reaction was "this guy (an actual genius businessman) must think Trump is such a clown for even thinking this kind of buffoonery doesn't reflect more poorly on Trump than himself." but then Musk became one of the internet's most famous trolls after that, so I guess he was impressed by it.

The doubt he's created for you stems from his rhetoric pre-purchase compared to his decisions post purchase?

He was always kind of an eccentric billionaire and I liked that he was odd. It fed into this idea I had that he's this unique genius, specifically as an innovator. When he started speaking on politics, it became clear he's naive and was out of his depth in this arena. It seems over the months he's been crafting his ideas about what free speech actually is (and I think he's wrong, and I bet you would agree with me). At the very least, I know he's not smart about everything. I'm realizing I don't actually have any reason to believe he's a genius innovator, except that he's the face of some cool projects. What does he actually have to do with the end result, besides funding and demanding a lot of his employees, IDK at all.

And so many times during this process he's embarrassed himself. Almost all of the trolling reflected poorly on him. He's basically crying "it's not fair!" to the world with his tweets, and that's the last thing anybody should be hearing from a powerful billionaire, especially someone like Musk. On twitter, he's attacking and threatening advertisers who were quiet quitting Twitter, not realizing he's scaring off potential advertisers. He's asking coders to print out their code. He's stack ranking employees so he knows who to lay off. He's haggling with Stephen King willy-nilly over the price of Twitter Blue. He's declaring comedy legal and then banning parody in the same week. All of this behavior and more has me super confused and I don't think he's the genius I thought he was and not sure he's a genius at all.

The world could have been a better place if Greta Thunberg had the dollars to purchase twittles.

Insightful. I appreciate the glimpse into the dynamics.

There's a cliche about never meeting your heroes in real life. I think you may have gotten a taste of that admonition in a digital meeting so to speak.

To be clear, I never considered him a hero, but I guess you could say I admired him. My cousin fanboys over him so much, it's kind of annoying, and I always had complicated feelings about Musk because of how much he leverages the government in his enterprises.

And FTR, I'm part of a real estate project (mountain cabin retreat) where we're getting StarLink soon, and I can't wait. Whatever role Musk played in StarLink, I'm super stoked to have it and credit to him.

I am sure you guys are smarter about operating a business than him. This is borderline psychotic or purely ideological.
