The rapid shift towards postmodernism and now post postmodernism has crippled humanity in so many ways. That’s what you are getting at. People that believe they have a monopoly on the truth, morality, virtue etc. This hatred of objective truth and the opportunity for common ground in favor of a passion for subjective truth has left us more divided and dumber than ever to be honest.

I fall into this trap as well. I’m certainly not immune. Too often I see leftist as the enemy within. Some are, but the vast majority are not.

The prevailing attitude of the day does seem to be:
This person believes A, B, and C
I believe X, Y, and Z.

They are evil. I am right. Preventing all potential contact with this person is the best path forward.

I don't know enough about postmodernism to comment.

Personally, I see it as ideas are now considered to be so dangerous and immoral that a hard line approach is their only recourse.

When X unveiled its newest terms of service, which go into effect on November 15, users quickly picked up on one change.

“By submitting, posting or displaying Content on or through the Services, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to make your Content available to the rest of the world,” the terms of service said, which includes the right to analyze any of that content “including, for example, for use with and training of our machine learning and artificial intelligence models, whether generative or another type.”

Basically, by continuing to use the platform, users will agree that X can use their data to train its AI models.

The righties also left from weird over reach. over reach in censoring users or kicking off the platform. At least that's how I remember it.

The over reach of content seems about on par with reddit and other sites, to me. I am out of my depth here because I don't engage with much social media apart from VN.

But if I were a well known content creator and supporting myself in that capacity, I would not agree to that TOS.

Good for you. I think it's funny that Elon is having his buddies post victory laps right as Twitter loses the most people it's ever lost in a day and people can't see it for what it is

Elon is a fascinating case study. He was a lefty darling for years. Buys Twitter and (from what I can tell) upsets the lefty's assumed birthright they control the media then he becomes enemy number one.
Now everything he does is the worst.

Yall should have tried growing up where the only media favorable to your POV was AM radio. You would have developed thicker skin.

This talking point only gets recycled by people who don’t see the dumb **** he says constantly, it has nothing to do with “disrupting the left’s control of the media”

Fair. Don't think the distinction changes much though, it has a lot more to do with him boosting himself into everyone's Twitter feed just to say dumb **** like "if Trump loses, there will be no more elections" to which a subset of followers replies "wow, is this the smartest thing anyone has ever said? After all, he's so rich!!"

The fact that his daughter transitioned and he signed off on it, then disowned her and describes it as "the woke mind virus killed my son" is pretty crappy too. But I guess I can't speak for those who were huge fans before because I wasn't one of them.

I don't really care which "side" controls Twitter, I think Trump or almost anyone else on the right would do less transparently narcissistic things than Elon has (rebranding to X, making likes private/disabling the block feature because they embarrassed him)

For most on the left, their disdain for Elon has everything to do with there being now being an unregulated (more or less) medium for ideology they despise.

If your problem with Elon is that he says dumb stuff, then I assume surely you have a problem with Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, AOC, and more like them as well because they spew dumb stuff too.

When I was growing up, we had 4 channels on TV. When programming aired pushing the boundaries, social conservatives voiced opposition. They were instructed by the social liberals to change the channel or turn it off. Basically, it's here whether you like it or not and you can complain or simply control what you see.

Looks like today's lefties are following their parents' advice to social conservatives from a generation ago and turning X off.

Elon strikes me as someone intelligent but not socially self-aware. Like he is probably on the spectrum. His humor isnt that funny. His irony isn't that ironic. He's probably not a "good" dude.

Sure, I'm not a huge fan of any politician. But they don't push themselves into my Twitter feed and get their feelings hurt and amplify themselves even more when they don't get the views they want (nor to my knowledge have they disowned their kids)
