RIP Twitter

Devin Nunes left a secure seat in the House of Representatives. because Donald Trump asked him to become the CEO of his "Truth Social" platform ... but Donald Trump has not helped to promote the platform at all.

,,, and does anyone believe this? Nunes is kidding himself.

Donald Trump "really doesn't have an interest" in Twitter, Devin Nunes says

Uhhhh .... that is exactly my point! Elon Musk doesn't want liberals to leave the Twitter platform.
My point was Twitter actively banned people for diversity of thought which is stupid. They will be getting exactly what they deserved. If live leave because they can’t handle actual debate that’s their problem.

Be careful what you wish for. That would not be a positive development for such a large investment (even by the standards of someone as wealthy as Elon Musk). I doubt that is something that Musk wants to happen.

People who frequent Twitter do so, at least in part, because they prefer having a spirited debate over having an echo chamber (engaging in dialogue, only with people who always agree with you, can quickly become boring).

10% of the people make up 80% of the tweets . Twitter is the definition of “ Echo chamber “

I think that is why conservatives have continued to use a place that clearly reviles them. Lets see if progressives can handle it when it is a more even playing field.

For myself, I agree - I would prefer a place where all viewpoints can be heard, or at least said.

It would be Elon Musk's problem as well.

He won’t change anything except the algorithm that mutes previous opposing viewpoints. Others have tried to replicate Twitter and failed. Wokes will shrill and tweet anyway…like conservatives before them.
There has been no need for Silicon Valley liberals to replicate Twitter. They already had what they wanted. You are underestimating liberal engineers on this one.

I’m possibly under estimating their desire to get off their asses and actually back up their whining. But that’s it and it isn’t clear I’m wrong.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I am glad Musk bought Twitter. I want to see what happens. I just live in reality and know that the overwhelming majority of conservatives who want to have a voice on Twitter, have a voice on Twitter. They are seen and heard there more there than anywhere else. Prove me wrong. Can you name 5 places where conservatives have more of a voice? Any place? The only place I can think of in the conversation is Facebook.
That’s probably true. Can’t think of a forum where conservatives have more voice.

It’s probably also the forum where Conservatives are most censored.

Numbers.

‘Twas a joke. But thanks for typing all that.

Hey just parroting back what conservatives were told. It seemed pretty unfathomable then. I guess only left leaning people code huh? Who knew!
Take a look at the disaster known as "Truth Social". It's unfathomable for Conservatives ... not so much for Silicon Valley.

Just doing some simple math. There are 290m accounts. I'm seeing that as of 2016, Twitter had suspended 350k accounts (seems mostly due to ISIL/terrorism ties). They did another 166k at the end of 2018 for "promoting terrorism", unclear whether it's domestic or not, and then we've got the 70k Qanon guys and then however many famous conservatives (a hundred?). So if we just say 25% of accounts are conservative and ALL of those 166k and the 70k are conservatives (ridiculous assumption) that shouldn't be suspended (another ridiculous assumption), we're only talking about 3 out of every 1,000 conservatives accounts getting suspended, and you have to consider that a lot of those accounts are accounting for multiple suspensions. So that's on the high end. If 2/3 of those people actually deserve to be censored (violated legitimate terms of service, like posting someone's ph# or whatever), then you're talking about 1 out of 1,000.

All that being said, I don't know what other numbers are out there so I can't be sure there isn't something significant missing here.

It's a high profile failure. Can you name a high profile social media success developed by "righties?" ....
I can think of a high profile social media success promoted by “righties” - Twitter

Anybody trying to replicate the lighting striking twice of Twitter had the deck stacked against them. There are several other social media platforms, it’s just tough to be number two.

Twitter is the first and the crown jewel. And liberals won’t leave it any more than conservatives did.

Devin Nunes has very sad Fox interview amid news of Musk Twitter deal

I really would feel bad for Devin Nunes here ... if he wasn't so partisan. Nunes has been a Trump sycophant from the very beginning of Trump's 2016 campaign. He is truly one of the most loyal and dedicated Trump supporters ... and he is about to have the rug jerked out from underneath him, when Musk reinstates Trump on Twitter ... and Trump returns to tweeting 10 times per day again. That will be the death knell for "Truth Social" and where does that leave Nunes?
