I remember the olden days when it used to cost money to call Knoxville from a a surrounding county. Heaven forbid you lived in a place like Germany with the military and it cost a couple of dollars a minute to call the US back when a dollar was worth 5 of todays dollars.
Best thing that ever happened was when Ma Bell was broken up.
