I agree. If Harbaugh and Franklin can pull Michigan and PSU up to consistent 10+ win teams, that division is going to be a beast. Rutgers, Maryland, and Indiana are never going to fill out the bottom of the division the way that the SEC West currently has, but that's not really an insult. The West is currently at a level that no division has ever come close to.

I don't know if I agree with your last statement. Let's see how this season plays out. At the end of last season I felt the SEC West was highly overrated.

You are correct though those B1G teams you named will never match the overall depth of the SEC West.

Ohio State would win the East with ease.

They'd be the favorite in the West, but probably wouldn't go unbeaten in conference.
If osu played an sec schedule in 2015, and just for fun, they get to pick whatever 8 they would like to play, let's say; vandy, uk, fla, tn, miss, miss st, uga, and bama. osu would finish with a conference record no better than 6-2, but more than likely 5-3.

Osu is not built to handle the riggers of the sec. Give CUM 2 more years, then possibly, they could compete week to week in the sec. But not right now.

No division, whether with 6 or 7 teams, had ever sent every team to a bowl game. Arkansas placed 7th in the division, and by the end of the year they were beating the crap out of really good teams.

I know man. Those "riggers". My favorite. Mizzou wasn't built to either. How have they done? 3 years in league 2 trips to Atlanta. Yep Ohio State isn't "built" for it. I will say this though. It's obvious from watching these last few years Tennessee isn't built for it either. Unfortunate for them.

Well define really good teams. LSU who lost a bowl game to a Notre Dame team that lost its last 4 regular season games?

Let's say tOSU had South Carolina's SEC schedule: the East + LSU and A&M. There is no way they go 5-3 against that schedule. The only East team that could hang is UGA, and tOSU would probably be a solid favorite. LSU doesn't have near the offense to keep up, and while A&M could make it a shootout, would they get enough stops?

Sorry, you can justifiably rip on the Big 10 while still acknowledging that tOSU is a fantastic football team.

Judging teams by meaningless bowl games is weak sauce. Judge Bama by the loss in the Sugar Bowl, because that game meant something.

Throughout the entire regular season, the West only lost 4 total games to teams that weren't in the West (Arkansas to Mizzou and UGA, A&M to Mizzou, Auburn to UGA). That's it.

I think you're giving OSU too much credit here. They only opened as a 14 point favorite over VA Tech, and that line has moved to 11. This is #1 vs an unranked.

Match them up with the #9 team (UGA) and I'm thinking maybe a 3-point favorite, or a pick 'em. There are a few SEC teams I think OSU would be underdogs against.

Okay, let's say UGA is a pick 'em. tOSU would be favored against everyone else in the East, LSU, and A&M.

Right I'm not saying they go 5-3 with that schedule. Just that I don't think they would be "solid favorites" over Georgia.

I do think they are very capable of losing 2 of 3 out of UGA/aTm/LSU.

OSU is dang good. Urban has recruited SEC caliber talent. He's not stubborn like Jim Tressel. He knows what his team needs.

To be fair, if they had, say, Alabama's schedule this season, they would probably lose 1 or 2 games. Frankly, with regards to the schedule that OSU drew this season, I'll be surprised if they don't go undefeated. They're loaded.

Not saying you because we have never spoken but part of the national narrative has been how the SEC has performed not just in BCS title games but bowl games as a whole. I think the SEC West is fantastic.

Ohio State is the best team. They are aided by the weakest schedule too. Those are not correlative but it makes their path the easiest and raises their odds. They are essentially an SEC talented Boise State. There is little doubt why people speculate what they'd do in another conference with wear and tear and tougher opponents.

Gotcha.

Hyping of bowl results just baffles me. They mean absolutely nothing.

For example:

OU ran roughshod over Bama in the Sugar Bowl last year. Everyone thinks this means that OU is amazing. They start out 2014 ranked in the Top 5, then proceed to go 8-5 and finished unranked.

I know my Vols have been down for the past 7 years. No big news there, Jimmy.

Like I said, when osu gets their Sos at 25 or less, let us know, we'll be pulling for you:)

So being the bookmaker you are you think this OSU team vs UGA would be a pickem? You must think Tennessee will get rolled by UGA.

I hope you are wrong though. I will be at that game and hope it's tight.

We can't control the league. Our 2 national championships since 02 speak for themselves, Jimmy. Good luck this season beating a ranked team for once.

Did you just compare Ohio State to Boise State? You are drunk early today. Carry on though.

You all will be 12-0 this year, we all know. Then you will face a beaten to hell Bama or Georgia and be picked to win by three. We know. then you'll lose to them and your excuse will be????

That might be the worst comparison ever, considering Ohio State's history AND schedule relative to Boise State...who last I checked never sniffed a national title, let alone won 7.

good luck finding a ranked team on your schedule.

When did playoff rankings come out? Oh they didn't???? That's the only rankings that matter. It's all an OPINION today. Again I am fine people ripping on the B1G. It's not been good.

That being said the SEC East is really average. Vols need to concentrate on trying to beat UF for the first time in a decade and quit letting a Big 12 team take their lunch money every season.
