rival predict your season thread

In all seriousness I am rooting for you guys. Hope CBJ gets to Atlanta and makes the playoffs. Excited to be in Knoxville in a few weeks.

Y'all know we love ya. I love football! I even liked Eddie when he played for the Titans. Last good teams we had.

That's what I said. It also wasn't that easy. Georgia Tech was a pretty damn good football team. Ask Georgia and Mississippi State.

And it's the only answer considering we've had all of one playoff so far.

Listen, some folks here complained about the SEC loyalty when Bama was on top, but they cling to it when an FSU or Ohio State has a legit contender. It's called a coping mechanism.

You can only play who's on your schedule.

I'm starting to think FL maybe a pleasant surprise to their fans. Low expectations, no hype...I know they don't have a lot of experience or weapons on offense. Their coach, from what I've seen, is very low key.

This all adds up to a gut feeling, we shall see.

I am not coping with anything. I've not defended the west losing their bowls or Mizzou winning the east or the east being down or even made excuses for TN being down. Let's call it what it is though, the coach and the schedule. All the teams mentioned as being good had good coaches but they had a varying degree of difficulty to win it all. If Saban is in the Big10 how many championships would he already have? I'd say more. Secondarily Buckeye is spouting off the suck of say the east and has admitted the Big10 is weak as hell but has not discussed all the recent years prior to Urban they didn't win the conference. It's an advantage for OSU pure and simple and my only point. It still took them a good coach and lots of recruiting to do it. They haven't been some juggernaut of championships prior. We'll see if they live up to the hype though as basically any team they face has 0 to lose.

History lesson....he was in the B1G. He had zero.
Ohio State played in and won more BCS games than any school. They won the B1G title in 2010. Were not eligible in 12. Played in 13 and won in 14. Pretty solid.
Prior to Urbs they were winning B1G titles all most every year since mid 2000s

Scenario to consider related to this. LSU beats Bama and wins the CCG only to lose to Bama in a NC. Had last years OSU been in the position of LSU do they win twice?

Great scenario. Comparing the BCS era to the Playoff Era. Poll Era vs Committee Era. Nothing is the same.

Win twice over whom? Michigan State? Bama? Oregon?

I'm confused.

Who is going to be your starting QB?

My money is on Alec Morris. But we'll probably see him and Coker for the first two games. Maybe even a little Cooper Bateman.

Also I am so glad the Ol' Lane decided to quit feeding Henry in the Sugar Bowl. Dude is a beast.

Unless Henry was going to start playing cornerback, it wouldn't have affected the outcome. Bama's offense didn't lose that game.

How many would Bama or LSU win in that same time frame if they play those schedules?
Pretend OSU's schedule is UT's this year. You'd have to likely beat Bama twice just to make the playoff. Still thinking you are a lock? That was my reason for referencing the LSU and Bama NC. The SEC is a harder path period. Forget bowls and anything else.

Bama if OSU is in the SEC.

Bama may have beaten them in a rematch. But I'm not going to guarantee it.

The difference with LSU in '11 is that everyone who watched the regular season matchup saw Bama outplay them and simply break down in the kicking game. That was not the case with tOSU in January.

I have said repeatedly OSU was the best team. That said if they played in the SEC and lost for example against OK in OOC play (VT) then I don't think they then make it past Bama twice and into the playoffs. The odds at least are exponentially harder. They play nearly no one worth a damn even the years they "almost" won.

The only way to shut up the Ohio St fans is to beat them in the playoffs. They play an easy schedule so their path is easy to the playoffs. They have, so far, ONE top 25 team on their schedule.
If every other team had a cake walk schedule like they do we could run our yaps like they do.

I don't disagree. And they had the good fortune of the Big XII choosing not to name a legit champ. But tOSU was a monster by the end of the year, which they weren't when it began. Would they have lost to Va Tech if they got a rematch?

I absolutely agree. My only point is the FSU team people use as an example of an easy path to the playoffs (I agree) could just as likely made the playoffs in the big 10 last year, IMO.

No argument here. Hard to blame Ohio State for the overall strength of the league. Honestly I think we make the playoffs. After that it's a crapshoot.

If Ohio State doesn't make the playoffs, somethings wrong up there

Well define really good teams. LSU who lost a bowl game to a Notre Dame team that lost its last 4 regular season games?

The same LSU that beat recent Big 10 juggernaut Wisconsin...

but let me guess Wisconsin wasn't too good because of coaching change...

The conference crap is overplayed in the sense that it's mostly who has the best coach with the best recruiting. What isn't overplayed is who has the best of both of those, SEC.

Here is what's the difference in the sec and every other conference

Look at floridas schedule do u honestly think OSU could go threw that gantlet and not lose one game ? In the B10 U have like three actually games u can lose but in the sec u can lose any week except vandy week

Tennessee could play our schedule and still lose 4 games....so I guess they aren't one of them.

I honestly believe they could. Yeah pretty sure they would.

They didn't have a coaching change then. Of course that awful Notre Dame team that couldn't win in November had no problem with LSU.
