rival predict your season thread

3-5 wins. They should probably beat at least 3 or 4 of those starting 4 games.

In all seriousness, I think 3-9 is IU's ceiling. Western Kentucky returns a 4800 yard passer who threw 49 tds, a 1500 yard rusher, and their top two receivers. If IU lost to Bowling Green last year there is no way we beat Western this year. Wake Forest is probably a toss up but its at their place. We should beat SIU and FIU. So we would pretty much have to beat two of Western Kentucky, Purdue, and Wake Forest to make 4-8. With Tevin Coleman off to the NFL, I just don't see it happening. 2-10 is my serious prediction.

Best case: 9-3. I don't know who we lose to though.

8-4 may be more realistic, but I want to see the results of the first game before I nail down a true season prediction. Regardless I think we sweep he state of Mississippi.

I like A&M against ASU.

Unless Wake Forest gets drastically better from last season, then you might be giving them too much credit.

Sudfeld is back right this year, right?

Indiana's thing the last few years since Wilson has gotten there has seemed to be, when healthy (especially at QB), that they can put up points in a lot of games, but they can't stop any team (with a pulse) from scoring on them them...and that can put them in those "have to be the last team to score in regulation to win" situations, which was more or less what happened in the Bowling Green game. After trading scores all game, Bowling Green got the ball back with less than 2 minutes left because of how bad that defense was, and they scored with 9 seconds left in the game (they only saw 3rd down once or twice, though back-to-back pass interferences against IU probably helped).

If Sudfeld's back, that offense at least seems to run a bit better production (you all just don't have a backup), and 2013 seemed to suggest more emphasis on the passing game is the ideal (when he's healthy; Coleman's production picked up a little later and he hit 900 yards before missing their last two games). They probably would have been better last year with both, but the inability to pass with either backup seemed to put more of an emphasis on the running game.

What's your reasoning giving Purdue the win there, by the way? They've also been awful (if not worse).

Yeah Sudfeld is back and when healthy he looks good but he is coming back from missing a huge portion of the season. He could be pretty rusty.

Don't underestimate how damaging losing Tevin Coleman will be to this team. He was incredible. He ran for 2,036 yards and 15 td last year, with a 7.5 avg, behind Indiana's O-Line. He regularly busted off big plays and kept us in games we really had no business winning.

Even with Sudfeld and Coleman both in the lineup we still managed to lose to Bowling Green and got crushed by Maryland. Sure there was the Missouri win, but that was more Missouri than Indiana.

Purdue has been awful, its true, and we did beat them last year. But the main reason for predicting 2-10 is that this is Indiana football, and we always find a way to be terrible. Last year we were supposed to take a huge step forward, and we still ended up going 4-8. It's just the way of Indiana football.

It's amazing how much smack I have read people talking about Ohio State. Ohio State would be favored in at least 11 games if they had our schedule. Bama is the only one they MIGHT not be favored in, and as of today I'd pick the Buckeyes. Even in T town.

I hate them and Meyer too, but talk of them losing 3 games with our schedule is absurd.

I don't hate Meyer. He hated Florida fans so much that he faked a heart condition so that he could quit his job that paid millions of dollars a year just to get out of Gainesville. That is my type of guy.

LOL, solid point.

Yup.

On a side note: it is freaking garbage that it's been 7 years since Bama played UGA in the regular season. The SEC has got to go to nine conference games or drop the divisions.

I will second that. As a Vols fan I really miss playing Ole Miss more regularly, since we essentially fight over the rights to call Memphis ours. I would also like to see more Tennessee-Auburn games.

A 14 team SEC without divisions would be absolutely amazing.

So how is everybody feeling after 2 games?

UK is about where expected. Tough loss to UF.

UF looks a hair better than I thought on offense. UT game will see where they are.

UGA skull drug USC and looks good.

USC and AR look like fresh cow patties.

Auburn - wow what a fall

A&M looks pretty good.

Ole Miss - Better than I expected.
