Rivals has been updated

Last year there were roughly 275 4*'s on top of about 25 5*'s...there will be roughly the same number of 4*'s this year

It varies from year to year. They never go with a set amount of 4*'s or 5*'s per class thankfully. That said, by the time the final rankings are out I suspect you will see more overall 4*'s than you see right now. That is almost always the case.

Stars ****** are so overrated! Half of the 4/5 stars will never be any good or not qualify anyway! Who cares?????

Maybe I was just confused, but wasn't Anthony Johnson a 5* top 20 player in the nation in the old rankings? In the new rankings he's dropped to a 4* at number 40. That just seems odd to me.

on Kerbyson:

Mike Farrell:
Comment From zach -- Kyberson has nice offers for sure, but we don't go based on offers. Saw him at FNL and he got a little bump up the rankings but he's still too raw and not strong enough to be a four star

I noticed that there are only 13 Rivals 5*'s at this point (was 20 at this point last year). Six are commited and seven are not.

Think Scout always has 50 5*'s.

Don't know about how many 4 stars are currently out there for either.

I'm neither a star gazer nor a guy who says stars don't matter at all. The truth is obviously somewhere in between.

The number is MUCH higher than that. Here are the past 2 years:

2009
4stars- 401
5stars- 35

2010
4stars- 395
5stars- 27

Rivals still has a LONG ways to go before they are finished. Looks like around 115 more 4stars and 20 more 5stars. around 130-140 new players will get bumped up.

2011
4stars- 281
5stars- 13

This is my first post on here, but I was just wondering how Juda Parker would have been updated to a 3 Star if the full 250 wasn't already finished? That being said I think Dooley just might have a few more Pat Martin type silent recruits waiting to announce!

Bam got you there GT09. you're our Rivals insider, and declared A.J. had stiff hips, and wouldn't be 4*. But overall I like your posts.

A few points:
Had Worley picked LSU or Notre Dame, he would have been a 4* weeks ago. Heck, even ESPN was all over him predicting a pledge to the Irish. Not much was said after he picked UT.

Randolph getting in the AJC Top 11 is just as good as being a 4*. The writer even answered that based on his play as a FR and SO (alone) he deserved to be selected as one of GA's best. Brian was also injured last season.

As mentioned earlier, Posey is a 4* on ESPN and I am really impressed by his film. All he does is flatten everyone who gets in his way.

No doubt there will be lot more...

Montrell and I were disdcussing it as it related to players falling outside the 250 so I was only talking abuot highschoolers...

Even at that there were 340 four star highschoolers last year so based on the law of averages there will be 50-60 more four star highschoolers plus those from JUCO and prep school...

I still think Rivals is ridiculous this year....their perspective seems to be "We're going to be stingy with our higher ratings this year...not because it's a down year...it's actually a very good year...but we're going to be stingy with them just because we can"

I like Randolph to get his fourth star eventually but that Top 11 list is a joke with some notable snubs of top talent in GA.
