Riyahd Jones Knee

somebody on the tsr said that he did something in practice to hurt it and they said it looked bad.i can't remember who it was though.

if he isn't hurt,i'm just glad because we need him for this season.

Where are Orta and Tino Thomas? I was really hoping we wouldn't be this dependent on Jones. Tino is tall and fast and I was hoping he would step up this year. Jones does look like a baller though, hope he is ok, and soon!

I have been wondering this same thing.

@JimmyHyams: UT CB Riyahd Jones still being evaluated after his calves were swollen following weekend practice; Jones said WR Devrin Young is improving

Swollen calves?..

You know, baby cows. Probably swollen because they reached puberty early and giving milk already. :)

More serious than you might think. Inflammation can have a lot of causes. Knew a mid that had to have surgery on both calves.

injuries are part of the game. Move on and next man up.

It's just a fact of life, and although I agree with you it's tough when we don't have the depth and experience to make up for that injury, especially at cornerback. I think we are still one year away from being rock solid at the cornerback position. Wish Payne was here already!!

this deal is getting weird.

I was wondering if anyone else thought this seemed weird. Wouldn't they normally mention x-rays being negative or timeline for injury. Butch also seems to be unusually vague too about it. I almost wonder if they made up injury to see if someone is leaking info they don't want or an excuse to move Dallas to db.

Yeh man it's def strange bc he has been pretty open about the other injuries so far. We're also about 5 days since this injury first happened. So I don't know what to think. You would think if it was an injury they would know what it was by this time.

Exactly. Was "leg injury" the last Butch has said about it? Maybe he was pulling a Brandon Warren (fake injury due to being tired)

All joking aside, I hope Riyahd is okay. Seems like a very odd situation and everything we hear is real vague. Hopefully nothing serious...

Ya know, with all the HIPPA privacy stuff, I don't think they have to give us any details at all about somebody's injury, but it is customary at some point to give a range in time when they expect them back to football duties -- once they feel like they can or should give out that info.

In the press conference today which formally unveiled Tennessee's five new uniform combinations (see University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site), Butch made a statement that I presume pertained to Riyadh's condition. Unfortunately, you could not hear the questions that were presented to him. The following statement should be considered a paraphrased excerpt rather than a verbatim quote: "They're still in the evaluation process. . . . It seems now that he could be out for an extended period of time, perhaps two months. . . . He simply woke up one morning experiencing significant swelling in both calves."

Thanks for the update
