Oh ok.
Is that like Hubbs is a Memphis lean?
Just curious if this is from the same source?
All seriousness though, what's the vibe in Memphis? Are they still satisfied and happy with Pastner or are some starting to question it?
If Pastner is already signing All Americans, winning his conference and going to the tournament in his third year coaching, imagine what he'll be doing when he actually gets some experience.
Hubbs was simply message board chatter. When I heard something reliable about him being a Vandy lean, I let y'all know about it.
This is different. Why not just wait and see?
So if it was message board chatter why would you come to a UT board and say he is a Memphis lean. That's not exactly the best "sources" to go by.
The Vandy lean you mentioned was after I posted his final 6 schools. Which included Vanderbilt, not really anything people didn't know at that point.

Pastner has only been a coach for 3 years. The guy is 34 years old and is a work in progress. Stallings has been coaching for 20 or so.
He'll most likely never have a trio as good as taylor, Jenkins and Ezeli again, and he could only muster the round of 32. A "good" year, by all objectivity, but not much more.
If you're insenuating that Pastner is on the hot seat you're barking up the wrong tree. He had a pretty good year, all things considered.
What things considered? Playing in Candyland USA? Having more talent than 90% of the teams they played? Yeah, ok. We'll see how patient Memphis fans and the big brass boosters are with another early exit. Pastner's safety net left with RC Johnson. In three years, he has an NIT bid and two first round losses. That's not acceptable by Memphis standards. You don't cut your coaching teeth in the Big East either.
If he leaves Memphis, it'll be a for a better job and not because he hasn't performed.
Bahahaha hahahaha....I needed a good laugh today.
Wait, we're you being serious?
Every person involved with college basketball, except Memphis fans, have said he has now under achieved 3 years in a row. Nobody is knocking down the door for that guy. He'd be lucky to get hired by another c USA team it he was let go.

Really?

@BTNTomDienhart Some interesting names for the #Illinois job: Scott Drew, Stan Heath, Anthony Grant, Shaka Smart, Josh Pastner #B1G"
Is Illinois really a better job than Memphis right now?
Sorry, now that you're in the big east I figured you thought a bit more highly of the Memphis program.
He'll have another season to mature, recruit depth and prep his team.
More conference losses will come, but the move to the Big East is good for Memphis.
Why does it matter if Illinois is a better job?

I agree that the move to the Big East is huge for Memphis. I'm just not sure that you have a coach that can compete with coaches in that conference night in and night out. He is a great recruiter, not so great of a floor coach. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
