Robert Hubbs: Underachiever in the making or is it coaching?

Hubbs has a sweet looking jump shot though. His follow through is near perfect almost every time he shots the ball. I just think he needs a coach to impose some more confidence in his offensive game.

This FIVE STAR McDonalds All-American has shown me absolutely NOTHING up to this point. That is very disturbing knowing that Jabari Parker, also a coveted 5 star recruit, is averaging 16-17 pts so far for Duke! Why is that? I just haven't seen one glimpse of a 5 star recruit yet, and am wondering why. Is it too early to judge? Is it him not being developed well under Martin? Or, is he simply another Scotty Hopson in the making?

GO VOLS
I'm sure once Hubbs finally comes into his own he will personally find you and tell you he is so sorry for disappointing you so far.

Oh, it's coaching and then some !!! Almost nobody develops or plays well under Martin. He's a freakin' joke of a coach. Anybody that can't see that at this point is either blind, stupid or a relative.

but..but..they are top 20 in offensive efficiency. Can't we sell that to some 5* recruits?

Dude had a wide open 3 at the 6 minute mark to tie the game and barely hit the rim.

Leaning towards him being the problem.

What he needs is playing time but that isn't going to happen until next year. He plays McRae's spot and there is no way Jordy is not going to be on the floor most of the time.

Jordan McRae didn't develop?

Also to the op Hubbs wasn't a MDAA. Parker has been called the next Lebron since 10 grade and played more on the wing than Hubbs did in hs. He is also 6'8 235. Hubbs played the 5 in hs because he was the tallest player. He will be fine when he takes over next year.

Yeah because you judge a player on missing one shot on the road in a hostile environment vs a top 10 team. A freshman at that.

By the fifth game of your freshman year if you are a 5 star you should be averaging a double double if you are a 5 star recruit. OP----:eek:k::worship:

Just a vastly overrated recruit. Anyone who watched his state championship game last year would have known that. Another Martin recruiting fail. The young talent on this team is non existent and this next recruiting class is worse.

The CCM may be justified, but the Hubbs, Thompson, and AJ bashing is moronic.

Its just amazing how people will claim, oh but he has recruited well. But he just plain hasn't. These players aren't good enough, they aren't good "for freshmen"

Sorry man but you haven't seen a big enough sample yet to come to that conclusion. imo

Those three are good. The 14 class. Meh. I hope they out play their evaluations.

Im sorry but I have. To say they are above criticism is also incorrect. For Hubbs to come in the game and immediately start jacking up shots when he cant hit the broad side of a barn is inexcusable. A lot of people were thrilled with Thompson. Didn't see that either. I saw a guy who refused to get on the floor and go after the basketball despite multiple opportunities to do so.

It is way too early to judge Hubbs game. 90% of all freshman no matter how high they are ranked take time too adjust to the speed of the college game as compared to high school. Hubbs has all the tools to be a great player, and his development will come.

Recruiting wise, I think Hubbs (and to a lesser extent Stokes) development might be one of the most important issues for Coach Martin. If Hubbs does not develop, other coaches will use that against Coach Martin in the future when it comes to recruiting other 5* players. If he does develop into an NBA player, it can only help Coach Martin with other high level recruits.
