Robert Hubbs: Underachiever in the making or is it coaching?

He screwed us over by being a too cocky for his own good and bolting a year early! He was NOT ready for the NBA. You all knew it, he knew it, Pearl new it and NBA scouts knew it. He needed another year to develop his game..plus our 2011 team would have been that much better. So, yeah, hes an idiot and got what he deserved...Im sorry.

You don't know much about Scotty. He was one of the better guys as a person to play here. He never got into one bit of trouble and was one of the most humble kids you would meet. He was only a few hours away from graduation when he left as a junior. He was all set to return for his senior year until Pearl was fired. He's making more in Europe than 99% of this board earns. Scotty never developed into an NBA first rounder but he sure did a lot of good things here. There is no point in personally trashing a kid.

He is enjoying the street life in beautiful Hoptown...

Yes pedigree definitely goes a long way. (see: Renaldo Woolridge and Derek Dooley)

Do you really think that I believe he will automatically be a star because his dad was? Is that really what you think I am saying here as if it were that simple?

Being the son of a 6-9 NBA all-star sure beats being the son of 5-9 part-time tax preparer at H&R Block if you have aspirations of being a college basketball star. It doesn't guarantee your success, but it sure doesn't hurt your cause.

You calling someone else an idiot is rich.

In fairness, I have to acknowledge that Davis and Thompson seem underrated, but just like with Hubbs, it's been nine games. Let's see if they can sustain and build on what we have seen thus far.

This recruiting class is very good. They'll get no coaching, but this group can play.

I agree they can play, but I've defended Hubbs with the notion that we've only seen nine games from him so far. So, in fairness, I felt it was worth mentioning that while DT and AJD have succeeded early, we need to see them sustain and build on that success, which I think they will.

He probably left for fear of his head exploding if he had to run in circles in that dumb flex offense for another year.

He is saying how bad Scotty "sucked" but he wanted him back for his senior year...how does that work?

I didn't say he SUCKED! lol I said he is a major UNDERACHIEVER and needed to stay and develop his game, nothing more. Of course I thought he was a good, talented player. But, I did however think he played SOFT and could have been special.

Probably competition and how they played him in high school. A lot of post play. I think he will be a super player next season. Has to get used to his role this season. The real five star may be AJ he is really coming on getting better everyday.

I look at Hubbs and I see a player who reminds me a lot of Casey Prather down in Florida. Both are from West Tn. Both are incredibly athletic. Both highly regarded wing prospects (correct me if I'm wrong Casey was a 4*) but both played post in high school. If you watched Hubbs' games from Dyer County, he generally played from about 15 feet in. He made some outside shots but most of his game was using his athletic ability close to the rim. Prather was a lot the same in high school. It took Casey 3 years at Florida to adjust his game to become more productive as a 3 in college. I think the same will be true for Hubbs. I think the moment it clicks for him will be sooner than Prather's because he played a lot of wing in AAU and that gives him something to build on. If someone already made these points sorry I only read the first 20 or so responses
