Robert Marve

To be honest, Being 4 or 5 deep at QB has never hampered UT in the past as far as attracting top recruits...If the recruit is confident then he won't be afraid, if not why would you want him to begin with?....Think about that for a minute or two.

sweet..here is what we are getting per espn in 2007
Evaluation

This kid is going to be a very good college quarterback. He may not be receiving the national attention of others, but he probably should. Marve is an excellent overall passer and very good athlete to boot. He has good size and will need to bulk up, but he has the frame to develop into an impressive athlete at the quarterback position. He is a pocket passer first who can make plays with his legs when he has to. He has good feet, drops quickly and his set up is balanced and calm. Stands tall in the pocket and sees the field well. Carries the ball at chest level and shows good pocket presence avoiding the rush, yet keeping his eyes downfield. His delivery and arm are both excellent. Release is quick and compact, and he gets great natural wrist snap on the ball. Shows big RPMs on short-to-intermediate routes. Can thread the needle on underneath throws. Shows good touch, timing and accuracy on underneath routes. Can changed ball speeds. Has the arm to drive the ball downfield and has the touch to drop it in over coverage. His throwing motion is something that need not be messed with. He is a deceptive and elusive runner with good speed for the position. Can be dangerous outside of the pocket as a pass/run threat. Throws well on the move and when off balance. Can make the first defender miss in space and is tough, will lower his shoulder to get the extra yard. Overall, this kid is going to be a late-bloomer with his best days of football ahead of him. He has confidence and savvy to go along with very good physical tools and arm strength.

I am excited about this. I think Marve is UT's QB for 2010. And possibly 2011. He could really excel in this system.

Then sign a stud this year or next and have him learn the system and they will be ready to take over when Marve is done...or they can beat him out.

Hubbs just said that if he were guessing, Marve will be a Vol. But he also pointed out how the coaches cannot call him so it's all on Marve and the family to get the paperwork done...

This thing is all but a done deal. Kid will be a Vol.

Really telling about where the coaches think they are as far as the QB situation.

Ok, I'm really not trying to be a smartass here Sab, but yesterday you said Camron will be a Vol too. So do you think both of them will end up as Vols?

Or they don't think any of these could be a starter over Marve as a true freshman.

Maybe they sign one hs guy this year and Marve and sign a guy in the '11 class who could RS while Marve is a senior.

Taking Marve seems like a no brainer.

I really would have preffered this guy to go elsewhere. I doubt we sign two good QBs now (besides Newton).

I want to take this opportunity to let you know you're the man, Lord Vader.

haha thanks man. i also thought this was interesting. It came the first linked article...

In the meantime, it's important to keep in mind that the Marve family isn't exactly struggling for cash. His father, Eugene Marve, played 12 years in the NFL. And, in a key move, Marve has already spent a semester out of school since leaving Miami. So the Marve family would actually only have to pay for one semester of tuition, the fall of 2009, before the one-year scholarship limitation runs out that is keeping Marve from transferring to any school of his choice.

That's what I was referring to.
