Robert Marve

I took it to mean you thought they didn't think they were in good standing with any of the top guys.

No, I still think they get a QB -- maybe even two -- in this class. I was referring to the general situation we have at QB beyond this year.

Yea, that's what it says over on VQ. Some guy said he heard it on the radio in Atlanta.

He was talking like he wouldn't mind being switched to another position, so Newton might still give us a solid look.

I think I would've rather seen Newton with his mix of size and speed, but I really don't feel like I can complain much. This is another highly touted guy who was thrown into the mix with (get over it Canes fans) a not-so-great team like we were last year. I expect he'll compete hard.

I also wonder what this kind of thing does for "blocking players" the way Shannon did. If kids don't mind paying for a year as a walk-on, maybe it'll happen a lot less.

IMO, we should be celebrating this like we would signing a big time freshman, maybe even more.

It has more to do with the financial situation of the family, and it's not an issue for Marve.

Let me preface this by saying I just want to get some people's reaction. This info is from TennStud:

I had the opportunity to attend the Thursday night Miami-Va Tech nationally televised game as Cortez Kennedy's guest when he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Listening to the post game radio sports call in showafterwards, the hate, disdain, contempt, for Marve would make UT's fans feelings for Crompton a love feast! The U's fans were just NOT sold on Marve's quarterbacking abilites. But what do fans know??

I can understand that, but a year of college shouldn't really break anyone even if they have to get some sort of lender loan to pay off post-graduation. Especially if you can make a career out of football or if you still major in a good occupational path while you're there.

At the least it could show athletes who want to transfer can still go where they *want* to go instead of feeling like they are under contract or something.

A (RS) Freshman on an average team having some good games and bad games is not a shock. To not be able to see lots of potential in this guy is crazy to me.

JC was on his fourth year on campus and struggled making hand offs. Tough to compare the two IMO.
