Robert Marve

Marve is talented there is no doubt about that. Assuming he can stay out of trouble I feel good about getting him and Hendrix for the 2010 class.

I think he will stay out of trouble. He knows this is his best shot and one mishap will send him packing. Miami for 18 year old kids can be lots of trouble. I know this from personal experience having lived there myself when I was that age.

Good gravy look at his Senior year numbers:

Completed 280 of 421 for 4,380 yards, 48 TD and 13 INT

That is sick. Especially compared to his JR numbers where he only threw for 1,800 yards and 14 TDs.

marve has all the tools man.... if he meshes well with our system i expect big things out of him

I dont like this. The will hurt us the next 2 years in recruiting a QB. Now if Cam Newton comes too, you might as well forget about a QB. ESPN is about to say something on cam now

I honestly do not know where you get your ideas from but this will only help...I have a LOT of faith in CLK's and CEO's recruiting and do not think We will be hurting in the future for QB's...What exactly do you want?...A 5 star high school QB to come in there and save the day his freshman year?....Big shot of reality, This is REAL not a movie and not many freshman qb's ever live up to the expectations the fans put on them...I will be happy with a couple of experienced qb's ,Newton, Marve and Stephens and a young gun "Heaps, Scroggins or Hyndrix learning the system to take over in the future...Believe me, Fans on the other boards are actually showing concern over Marve and Newton coming here so that tells you something right there :wink2:

I would have taken Newton over Marve

I would take Marve for one major reason.

Cam Newton will spend the next year in the system of his JUCO and will only have fall practice to get ready.

As a walk-on that has to sit out a year, Marve will have this entire next year at UT to learn the system, meet his receivers and backs, work on timing, and get in reps with our excellent strength and conditioning staff.

I'm sure that he can't play, but I'm not so sure what the rules are on him attending practices, film sessions, etc.

Can someone with a little more knowledge let us know exactly how involved he can be with the team until next fall. I know he can do whatever work he wants with the other players in their free time, but how much can he work with the coaching staff?

Are there any rules that would prevent Newton from playing his JUCO year and then immediately transferring to UT in January so that he could participate in fall drills?

It would be like an early enrollee except he wouldn't be a freshman, he'd be a junior.

From what I read in most cases the prospect would have to get a degree from JuCo before he could go to a D1 school but I think that's if you didn't qualify out of HS. I think in his case he would have to just sit out a year since he did qualify. I'm sure I'll get corrected really quick if I'm wrong though.

i think newton can come in jan if he has graduated...he wont be playing in games and can go through spring workouts

i'm purty sure he won't graduate from blinn until May...

Why would he need to graduate the JC. Why couldn't he be in the middle of his sophomore year academically and wrap that up in the spring.

Four year colleges don't prohibit students from coming in with less than two years credit. If it's a rule, then it must be coming from the NCAA and be related to athletics.

non-qualifiers for 4 year schools that go Juco have to graduate from junior college if they enter JC out of high school. Its why Rufus Williams is not here. hasn't graduated yet.. some kdis never get graduated and never play at a 4 year school. it is an NCAA rule
