Robert Marve

Marve pretty much did get beat out. Everyone down in Miami knew that Jacory was going to be the starter for the rest of his career.

Harris had a better completion %, only 100 less yards on about ten less attempts, 3 more TDs, plus he's supposedly a better leader and already had a connection with a lot of people on the team.

This is true. He's still better than anyone currently on our roster though. And it's Nick Stephens he'd be up against.

IMO, what you need is two good freshmen out of class of 2010.

2010 is already a down year with personnel issues. Someone gets a year of experience while getting pounded and comes out ready to go in 2011. That's the year, ladies and gentlemen. 2-0-1-1.

Two guys gives you some competition.

BJ Coleman is looking better right about now.

Dang, that's weird. He was beaten out for the job, but started 11 games...

You must not have heard. BJ QUIT to start at UTC. Not the kind of kid I want leading my team.

So, they come out ready to go as a sophmore in 2011 as a 19 or 20 year old?

In 2011, Marve as a senior, Lamaison as a senior, and with a good sophmore was best case scenario for me...

That he quit is not in doubt. The reasons behind his leaving are open to interpretation.

A fair number of people, including UT fans, feel like he wasn't going to get a fair shot at playing because of the negative impact it might have had on UT's QB recruiting.

The guy hit 70% of his passes in spring ball to Crompton's 45%. But BJ was going against the second team, right?

The return argument is that BJ was doing it against the 2nd team defense. But if he wasn't going to get reps with the first team, then what chance did he have to prove himself and win the job.

If BJ was getting reps, this year he could have been the bridge in 2010 that you were looking for in Marve and both would have been juniors.

Come on. If the guy could play, don't you think we would play him? Recruiting be damned, Kiffin better be thinking about the present and I guarantee you he is. BJ almost quit when Fulmer was fired. Did that have to do with recruiting as well??? The guy flat out quit. If he was able to, he would have proved the coaches wrong.

When did he get demoted? Was it when he got suspended for the bowl game?

I don't know the whole back story to this. But Marve and Harris were splitting time all year even though Marve was gettiing the starts. Marve and Shannon apparently didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things (maybe Marve wanted the role full-tiime?). Then Marve got his second suspension leading up to the bowl game and it was announced sometime afterward that Harris would be in the pole position.

Bad relationship, bad behavior...the coach is going to win every time.

Perhaps you're right. But if I had a dollar every time someone on this site suggested that the motive for recruiting a particular QB was based upon the ability to recruit a different QB, I'd be a rich man.

I agree with everything you said. I don't wanna say BJ wasn't getting a fair shake, but something just doesn't add up. I honestly don't know what else he could've done to get some 1st team reps. I mean, if he sucked as a first stringer in the scrimmages, it's not a big deal, he goes back to the 2nd string. But if he don't get a shot, you never know what will happen...

And don't forget that the so-called "first team" that Crompton went up against in the Spring Game was missing Bret Vinson (starting CB), Ben Martin (starting DE), Wes Brown (starting DT), and ERIC BERRY. That's 4 of the top 7 players UT has on defense. Chris Walker played at DE, but was not allowed to rush the QB...

But then Coleman quit and cried like a little friggin girl...

We have goofy posters just like every site.

the coach is going to win every time.

Except when the coach is not performing well and is not able to recruit an area in which his school usually gets 90% of the talent...

I do believe Shannon was the right man for the job at the time though. They had to get someone in who could clean that messs up and put some discipline back in. He's done his job, it's time for them to get a real coach back in there...

If I had a dollar for every idiot on this site, I'd be rich too.

I thought the idea was to move on and focus on getting a good freshman QB?
Anyway, FlVol has some 'xplaining to do with this outcome.
