Alexander was fun to watch. Nice guy, a very athletic 6-10 that needed 30 lbs of muscle. Good shot blocker that got pushed around by muscular bigs. We need a big nasty that can score and intimidate.

Don't know,
What I do know, they are like rocking horse poop in Knoxville. I can't recall the last " big" a REAL 6'10- 7 footer we had that was a difference maker.
This team is missing a TRUE big man and a TRUE point guard. With the exception of a couple of years hear and there this seems to be the norm in Knoxville.

That was my point, “true big man” isn’t really a thing in NCAAB anymore, yes there are some, but looks at your best teams...most have 6’7”-6’10” athletic bigs, not 6’10”-7’2” bruisers.

Guess your right, however six seasons later and Barnes hasn't found a brusier either..

I think he’d basically help fill some of the void left by Pons. But what about Corey Walker?
I don’t know what to expect with Walkers future at this point. He was pretty highly rated, but just looking at him he looks small for a post. If conditioning is his issue it kind of makes you wonder how hard he’s actually willing to work. Pons makes up for his size with his athleticism, I don’t see Walker filling his role that much.

Corey Walker is bigger than this guy

Well that was the exact word used to describe NBA 1st rounder Grant Williams, but sure.
You seem to have all the answers. Can you answer this question. Why did Barnes not have another " bruiser" waiting in the wings to fill that 6'7" ( we keep dropping in stature) void from two seasons ago?

Stevie Hamer. Len Kosmalski. Marcus Haislip and Kyle Alexander were good not 7 footers. Doug Roth was Uros but on not so good teams that gave him a lot of minutes in an era where that kind of size had rules advantages.

Hathaway and Black.
Marcus Haislip was a smooth operator in the low post.

Agree, but I would add physical to athletic. Good posts can't be pushed around like rag dolls. They do the pushing around.

Completely different discussion from initial post post, moving goal posts?

Jarnell Stokes and Grant Williams have entered the conversation.

Yes, but Stokes was able to move people around and Grant Williams had a lot of game outside of 3 feet. I am not saying EJ doesn't have a lot of heart, but he is just so limited.

If I remember correctly, Grant had some games where his lack of height was an issue. He just found creative ways to make a difference.

That first video was a highlight vid. This one is just from a single game where he scored 27 points. 17 foot jumper - cut for a layup - 15 foot jumper - dunk where he beats everyone down the court - another dunk where he beats everyone down the court - left handed drive and 10 foot jumper (he's right handed) - turnaround from 16 feet - putback of his own miss - turnaround 15 footer - 10 foot jumper off a short drive - and he makes 7 free throws

I said “not 7 footers”.

Hamer, Kosmalski, and Boerwinkle are the only true 7 footers that were regular starters.
Remember Boomer Herndon? He graduated high school the same year as I did, we heard a lot about a 7ft white kid that was breaking backboards in middle Tennessee. He never could get into the rotation at Tennessee but he transferred and had a pretty nice career at Belmont.

Those highlights on the first page were from last year. Pretty sure I saw AJ score on EJ at least a couple of times In the highlights.

Definitely more athletic, and can actually make a layup around the basket. Most of of the time he just throws it down.
